Tiger Tracks MUFSD's Monthly e-news

The Mamaroneck School District is fortunate to have Sheldrake Environmental Center as its partner in outdoor education. School excursions in May have focused on ponding and the study of organisms found in the water, among other activities. Students are able to explore and observe their discoveries up close using microscopes.

Thank You to Our Dedicated Staff Members!

Staff Appreciation Week gave us the opportunity to celebrate our amazing teachers across the Mamaroneck School District for their constant dedication and commitment to all of our students and families. 🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡

"The children and families of this district are deeply grateful for the love, support, learning, and joy you bring to their lives each and everyday...Thank you for all that you do this week and every week!" - Mamaroneck Board of Education in a note to staff.

Kayaking in the Hommocks Middle School Pool Resumes as Part of PE Curriculum

Kayaking lessons resumed at Hommocks Middle School as part of the swim safety/kayaking unit in physical education class. These were the first lessons in the water since the COVID pandemic began. See more photos here.

Hmx Physical Education Teacher Cathleen Ferguson wrote a grant proposal to the Mamaroneck Schools Foundation 17 years ago, and the program has been running ever since!

Unified Basketball Wraps Up a Stellar Season with Tiger Spirit and Fun!

Mamaroneck's 2nd season of Unified Basketball -- consisting of general education and special education students -- wrapped up last week, with the team coming up short in the final game, but ending after a fantastic season. This program has been funded through a grant from NYSPHSAA and Special Olympics. Players and partners all had a great time, supporting each other on the court and from the sidelines. Way to go Tigers! 🐅🏀

Meet MHS's Class of '22 Valedictorian & Salutatorian

MHS seniors Lain Brewer and Allison Hecht received the exciting news that they are the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of Mamaroneck High School’s class of 2022. Ms. Clain recognized Lain and Allison for their academic performances, but even more importantly, for their well-rounded contributions to MHS and the broader Larchmont-Mamaroneck community, as well as their proven track record of being “stand-up human beings.”

Lain is President of the Computer Science Club, Head Sound Operator for Crew, and a member of the Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA). Allison plays the cello in both the MHS orchestra and chamber orchestra and volunteers with String Buddies, where she teaches private lessons to other students. She also participates in the high school’s Original Civic Research and Action (OCRA) program.

We look forward to their speeches at graduation!

Mancave? A Look at the Work of our First Place Winners from Recent FBLA State Conference

Mamaroneck High School’s Josie Zevin and Paisley Flamenbaum are two of the 58 MUFSD students who returned earlier this month from participating in the annual Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference in Rochester, NY. Josie and Paisley took 1st Place after presenting their work in the Publication Design category. The challenge they were addressing was to create the logo and branding for a new men’s clothing store-including a variety of promotional materials such as print advertisements, store signage, logo stickers, and store clothing tags. Check out their presentation here.

“In a world, where thanks to COVID-19, corporate is becoming slightly more casual, and suits and ties are being paired with sweatpants (as Zoom can only capture so much), we envisioned a line of quality and high end loungewear that is perfect for sitting back on your couch but also stylish enough to present yourself in front of a big meeting,” Josephine said.

MHS students Josie Zevin and Paisley Flamenbaum won 1st Place in the Publication Design category at the Future Business Leaders of America Annual Conference in Rochester, NY.
