From the Homestead Williston Northampton School Alumni Newsletter

Greetings from campus!

The big news? It's less than 48 hours til FOUNDERS DAY! Wednesday, February 16 is our annual day of giving and, after Reunion, my favorite day for watching alumni come together to celebrate The Williston Northampton School and all it means to them. From class leaderboards, to special challenges, to surprise give-aways, follow along online and on Facebook and Instagram, and watch your email so you don't miss a moment of the fun!

We are also continuing to find ways, large and small, to celebrate the anniversary of 50 Years of Co-education. In June, the Class of '72, the first co-ed class to graduate from Williston Northampton will gather for their 50th Reunion. And we are not just looking back, we are looking forward: the 50 for the Next 50 initiative will celebrate 50 alumnae who will continue to build on the success and momentum of the first five decades of women to graduate from Williston Northampton School. Help us celebrate the achievements of all of our alumnae: submit your nominations using this form.

And last but not least, please join me in warmly congratulating our colleague Corinne Briggs as she steps into a new role as Assistant Director of Alumni Giving and Engagement. Corinne will be working with the most recent 15 classes of alumni. So if you're in a class from 2007 to 2021, don't hesitate to reach out to cbriggs@williston.com and say "hello!"

Jill Stern, Director of Alumni Engagement

Notes from Campus

Williston Northampton School's visual and literary arts magazine, Janus is here! The 2021-22 edition contains poetry, short stories, illustrations, and collage.

Join us in sending big congratulations to the 32 scholar-athletes who committed to college athletics programs in a signing ceremony on Monday. Read more about the event, and find a link to photos, on our website.

The fantastic line-up of Grum Project artists enriching the campus continued with artist Elizabeth Duffy who led a collaging exercise with students in the Arts Intensive program. You can see photos of the day on Flickr.

The winter issue of The Willistonian went to press today, but in the meantime, you can get a peek at upcoming articles online.

Spotlight on: Donna Sussek ’80 and Denise Sussek Carletta ’80

Twins Donna Sussek ’80 (social worker and teacher) and Denise Sussek Carletta ’80 (artist and interior designer) have found success in widely varying careers. Read how both were shaped by shared experiences at Williston Northampton.

Spotlight on: Bina Sweet '17

“When we solve public health problems,” he says, “we are elevating the very ground on which people stand. It’s all about access.”

Parker "Bina" Sweet '19, who was named one of “29 Who Shine” by the Massachusetts Department of Education is working toward a five-year bachelor’s-plus-master’s degree in health policy and management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As part of his studies, he helped create the Academic Public Health Volunteer Corps, which coordinates teams of doctoral, masters-in-public-health, and undergraduate students throughout the commonwealth to conduct COVID-19 contact tracing and other public health work. Spotlight on: Alumni Athletes

With the spotlight on the Olympics it only seems right to spotlight some of our exceptional alumni athletes. A recent article in The Willistonian highlighted Shane Regan ’21, Caroline O’Connor ’20, and Maddy Cardaci ’20 noting how all three are competing in their winter sport while maintaining grades and the social lives demanded of them from their prestigious colleges.
