Dress Code
General:
1. The Purpose of the Dress Code is to ensure that sensible, reasonable and appropriate standards are maintained at all times on Club premises.
2. Golf attire should be neat, tailored and consistent with the standards of the Club and tradition of the game of golf.
3. It is unfair to the Directors, Golf Committee, Club staff, Pro Shop and Watson and Colt course starters, to be forced to deal with infractions even though they are authorized to do so.
4. It is the responsibility of every player to ensure that their family members and guests comply with the Dress Code at all times. Please forward a copy of the Dress Code to your guest(s) prior to their arrival at the Club to help avoid any potential dress code issues.
5. The Pro Shop is well stocked with suitable clothing and any inadvertent errors may be easily corrected.
Players and guests are required to change into golf attire (including golf shoes) in the Locker Room or Tee House and not in the parking lots.
Men & Junior Boys
1. Golf shirts must have a collar or be a recognized golf shirt design. Turtlenecks, mock necks and blade collars are acceptable.
2. Shirts must be worn tucked in.
3. Tailored pants or shorts are required. The following are not permitted:
a) Rugby pants
b) Sweatpants
c) Jogger trousers
d) Cargo pants or cargo shorts
e) Blue jeans or denim pants or shorts
4. Golf shorts are permitted provided that they are tailored and at a reasonable length above the knee. Tennis shorts are not permitted.
5. With shorts, only the following socks are permitted:
a) Ankle socks or sockettes
b) Proper knee length Bermuda socks with a turned down cuff
6. Closed toed sandals or deck shoes may be worn on the Lawn with or without socks. Socks are required in the formal areas of the Clubhouse.
7. Hats and visors must be worn with the peak facing frontward. Hats and visors are not to be worn in the Clubhouse.
8. Any logos or advertising must be golf related.
9. Metal spiked golf shoes are not permitted.
Women & Junior Girls
1. Golf shirts must have a collar or sleeves or both. Tank, tube, crop and halter tops are not permitted.
2. Racerback golf shirts with collars, turtlenecks, mock necks and blade collars are acceptable.
3. Tops must be tucked in except those with banded bottoms.
4. Tailored golf skirts, shorts, skorts or pants (including Capri- length) are appropriate.
The length of golf shorts, skirts or skorts is expected to be of a reasonable length.
5. Leggings are permitted as a layer under shorts, skirts or skorts.
6. Jeans, cargo, rugby, sweat, yoga and workout pants/shorts are not permitted.
7. Golf socks must be worn.
8. Hats and visors must be worn with the peak facing frontward
9. Any logos or advertising must be golf related.
10.Metal spiked golf shoes are not permitted.
11.Golf sandals without socks are permitted.
12. Flip Flops are not permitted to be worn in the Clubhouse or on the Lawn.
Clubhouse Attire
1. Golf attire may not be worn in the formal areas of the Club (Drawing Room, Dining Room and Trophy Room) after 6:00 p.m.
2. For private parties in the Dining Room and Trophy Room, men are required to wear a jacket.
3. All players are requested to inform their guests of the Club Dress Code.
Introduction of Guests
Colt Course
Players must play with the guests introduced.
Players are reminded that the same individual may not be introduced as a guest on the Colt (and/or Watson and practice facility) course more than a total of six times in any one year regardless of who introduces that particular individual.
The playing privileges of guests over the age of 18 are tied to the playing privileges of the player hosting the guest, regardless of the gender of either; except that male guests cannot play Tuesday mornings (before 11:00 a.m.) or at the discretion of the Starter. For example, subject to the paragraph above, a (Full Privileges) Resident Woman Player may host male or female guests over the age of 18 at any time, except male guests cannot play on Tuesday mornings (before 11:00 a.m.); and a Resident Man Player may host male or female guests over the age of 18 at any time, except Tuesday mornings (before 11:00 a.m.)
The playing privileges of guests under the age of 19 are defined by the playing privileges of Junior Associates. The playing privileges of guests of Junior Associates are tied to the playing privileges of the Junior Associate hosting the guest, regardless of the gender of either. For example, Junior Associate ‘A’ players may host male or female guests over the age of 12 on the Colt course during the times set out in the paragraph above, and on the Watson course at any time except Tuesdays before 11:00 a.m
All pairings with three guests shall tee-off from the first tee. It is the responsibility of the player to assure that any group he/she brings with guests maintains its position on the course.
Watson Course
A player may introduce up to three guests to play on the Watson course (9 Hole Course) at any time, except Tuesday before 11:00 a.m. Players are reminded that the same individual may not be introduced as a guest on the Watson (and/or Colt) course and practice facility more than a total of six times in any one year regardless of who introduces that particular individual. The lowest age limit for children on the Watson course is 5 however, children under the age of 10 must be accompanied at all times by an adult member. Players must play with guests introduced.
RESTRICTION OF LAPTOPS, BRIEFCASES, AND BUSINESS PAPERS
Under no circumstances are laptops or briefcases to be taken into the Club’s social rooms or should business papers be displayed in these areas. This restriction also applies to the golf courses, both the 18-hole course, the 9-hole course, and the practice area. This restriction does not apply to business meetings for which prior arrangements have been made nor does it apply to the Business Centre.
CELL PHONE POLICY
Silent Mode: Cell phones and similar electronic devices such as tablets or smartwatches are to be switched to silent mode (no ringing, beeping, or vibrating) at all times.
- Talking on a cell phone (including via wireless headphones/ear buds) is permitted only in the Club’s Business Centre, bedrooms or inside an automobile.
- Texting, Emailing, and Calendar review is permitted in the Clubhouse or on the grounds (other than the golf courses), if done discreetly.
Cell Phones on the Golf Course
- Silent cell phone use is permitted on the golf course only on the tee boxes if you are waiting for the group in front to clear (and the pace of play will not be affected). Cell phones are permitted as GPS-measuring devices.
- Members are encouraged to carry cell phones for use in health emergency situations on the golf course.
Cell Phone Cameras
- Are permitted anywhere on the Club property for personal use only.
- Members and guests sharing photographs taken at the Club may not share or post material that is disrespectful, offensive, defamatory, or inappropriate, or that would cause distress to, or infringe on the privacy of the Club or the rights of another person, including Toronto Golf Club Members, their families, guests, and Club staff.
