MANAGEMENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT

CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS

The next regular City Council meeting is July 5, 2022, at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream of the meeting online by CLICKING HERE.

YOUTH COMMITTEE

City received 15 applications for the 2022 recruitment to fill three seats on the committee. Interviews will be scheduled in July. Committee members will be meeting during the summer regarding next year’s objective(s). Regular committee public meetings will resume in September or October 2022.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT

The Community Development Department has released its monthly report for May of 2022. As can be seen in the report, building construction activity was up compared to the previous year. Building permit valuation saw a 112 percent increase from May 2021 to May 2022. The number of permits issued in April 2022 increased by 15 percent. Total fees paid this year have increased by 4 percent over last year. As mentioned in previous reports, the significant permits issued were mostly on the smaller side, such as accessory dwelling units and new single-family houses.

Planning received 15 new applications in May. The applications were consistent with recent trends, in that the projects were of a smaller scale, including seven ADUs, four additions, three commercial tenant improvements, and one, new two-story house. The City did not issue any business licenses in May.

Community Preservation continued to be very active in May. They continued to open and close a significant number of cases. The number of cases opened were 110% higher than May of last year and 100% higher than the same 5-month period last year (January-May).

PARKS AND RECREATION

2022 SUMMER CONCERTS IN THE PARKS

The Temple City Concert series returns to a full 10 week schedule in 2022! The series began on June 15 and runs through August 17, concerts will be held at Temple City Park Wednesday evenings. The concerts are free to attend and geared for all ages. Food options are available from local community groups and more information on the concert line-up can be found at www.templecity.us/concerts.

CAMP-A-PALOOZA

Camp-A-Palooza is an overnight family camping experience at Live Oak Park from Friday, July 29 into the next morning. Bring your own tent and sleeping bags, and we'll do the rest. Temple City's unique family campout experience returns with a fun under the sun experience for all! Enjoy arts and crafts, inflatables obstacle courses, a movie, and more! Cost includes a 20' x 20' camp space, dinner (Nexx Burger), and continental breakfast. Camp setup begins Friday at 2:30 p.m. with activities beginning at 4 pm.
