Women's Crew Competes in NESCAC Championship

Head to head against the top teams in the NESCAC, Women's Crew fought both heats to the end. Hamilton came out on top in the first round, and the Ephs from Williams topped the Mules for third place.

Colby Runs Win Streak to FIVE to End the Season

In a weekend that saw the Mules top Bates 9-1 Saturday and 20-3 Sunday, Colby outscored the Bobcats over the two-week four-game set 50-12.

In two 9-inning contests versus Bates, junior Cabot Maher (Barrington, R.I) went 6-for-9 with three homers, including two home runs on Saturday and a grand slam on Sunday, and 10 RBI. He also doubled, walked, and scored six runs.

Track & Field Competes at Tufts Against Eight Teams

In the event against Bates, Bowdoin, Tufts, Trinity, Conn., Brandeis, and WPI, the Colby Women's team had five event winners:

  • Lottie Frank - 400 Meter Dash
  • Christina Speliakos - 100 Meter Hurdles
  • Sharde Johnson (above) - High Jump
  • Mary Calvert - Pole Vault
  • 4 x 100 Meter Relay Team - Speliakos, Sabria Merrifield, Sade Greenidge, Katie-Marie Roy

Five from Women's Lacrosse Named to All-NESCAC

2020 IWLCA All-American Sarah Stark earns her first All-NESCAC nod. Last year, the NESCAC decided not to name an all-conference team after the year was upended by COVID. Earlier this spring, the junior defender earned NESCAC Player of the Week after her play in a 10-6 road victory over Wesleyan University (ranked #6 at the time).

Sophomore attack Gianna Bruno joins Stark on the first team. Bruno is the leading scorer for the Mules, tallying 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points. Leading goal scorer Annie Eddy '23 was named to the second team. Her team-leading 18 goals is good for second in the conference in goals per game. Also named to the second team were midfielder Elizabeth Hennessey '23 and defender Hannah Corey '22. Both Mules helped Colby's defense become one of the most prominent in the country, allowing a 7.0 goals against average over their final three games of 2021.

33rd Annual Senior Sports Awards

Friday night Colby Athletics celebrated their senior class with the 3rrd Annual Senior Sports Awards. Traditionally held closer to graduation, the event marks a culmination of involvement in athletics for the 2021 senior class and highlighted nine student-athletes as award winners. One faculty or staff member was also recognized, as well as five student-athletes who were recently inducted into the Maine Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.

Colby College Hosts NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament

The 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament began last weekend with Colby College servuing as a host site to twelve teams through the Second and Regional rounds of play. Colby hosted two 2nd round games on Saturday, May 8th and two on Sunday, May 9th. Regional play will take place Saturday, May 15th and Sunday, May 16th.

Women's Rugby Battles Polar Bears

In a rematch of the Colby-Bowdoin match held in Brunswick two weeks ago (a Colby victory 40-16), the Colby Women's Rugby team hosted the Polar Bears Saturday on Mayflower Hill at Seaverns Field. Bowdoin, the reigning 2019 NCAA/NIRA Div III Champions, took the match by a final score of 52-21.
