What is WorkBC Wage Subsidy?
WorkBC Wage Subsidy provides financial reimbursement of a percentage of wages to an eligible employer. This incentive is provided to employers who hire and provide on-the-job training to a job seeker who has been identified as needing work experience.
Open to new hires or re-hiring laid off employees for all full-time positions.
WorkBC can pay an employer a percentage of wages for up to 24-weeks.
As employees transition into their new position WorkBC can provide other supports such as transportation, daycare, essential work clothes and equipment, and assistive technologies for persons with a disability.
Some key points about Job Seeker eligibility:
Open to all unemployed residents of BC.
The employer can hire an employee who's been laid off from the position, and can only hire a new employee if the laid off employee declines to resume the position.
