Content Info For The Week
Math (Swindell, Beasley, and Meeks):
Scholars will learn how to solve systems algebraically. We will begin solving systems on Monday. Monday will be level one learning. Tuesday we will increase the difficulty. Wednesday we will have a mix review from level 1 to level 3 of solving system of equations by substitution.
Algebra I (Meeks):
Scholars will continue with our factoring polynomial unit. This week we will be factoring trinomials with a coefficient of one. Wednesday we will quiz over GCF, difference of squares, and factoring trinomials.
ELA (Styron and Barker):
This week students will determine a theme and/or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text. In addition students will complete the SRI test (reading inventory) to assess their reading comprehension level.
ELA (Lee):
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will continue reviewing key skills for GMAS. We will focus on appositives and how to recognize/identify them in a sentence, as well as verbals, positive/negative connotation, and other grammar-based skills. No school Thursday or Friday!
9th Grade Lit (Lee):
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will continue their study of Romeo and Juliet. Students are reading the play while focusing on the specfic theme: Choices and Consequences. We will analyze how Shakespeare's use of diction and poetic elements helps to develop plot, as well as how characters' choices impact the events as the storyline progresses. No school Thursday or Friday!
Science (Carver and Lewis):
This week we will conclude Unit 5 about waves. We will test on Monday and Tuesday. Grade improvement opportunities will be held on Wednesday.
Social Studies (MacArthur and Lewis):
This week in Mr. MacArthur's class, students will learn about the industrialization of Georgia after WWII, and the rise of Atlanta into a modern major city.
