Spongebob Squarepants and why its popular BY: Drew witalis, Nicholas Borchardt, and adam Stewart

One of the main factors that lead to the show being so popular is that the show is actually a satire of the U.S. culture. The show also has a diverse cast of characters that contrast and compliment each other, making for comical scenes.

The optimistic, but stupid main character, and his dumb best-friend.
The smart friend, and the cynical neighbor
The greedy boss, and the person trying to take over the world.

Another characteristic of the show that makes it so popular is that the show reaches multiple generations. While the show is kid friendly and fun for them to watch, there is also a lot of quick-witted humor in the show that goes over the kid's heads which makes the show enjoyable for older generations.

Adult humor.
Squidward: How are you making those noises?
Patrick: That's easy all you need is a box.
Spongebob: And...... Imagination.
Imagination is key.
