Dear University community,

  • We had quite an exciting Welcome Week and I hope all were able to engage in as many of the activities and opportunities as possible. It was especially great to see so many of you at Friday’s concluding “Dusty’s Firework Extravaganza” at the North Practice Field. Our thanks to the hard-working SOLE staff, CAB and all who continue to make Welcome Week a true and cherished tradition here. See our Gallery for more.
  • In some other great news, TAMIU has been ranked number 4 in the Best Bang for the Buck Rankings: South category of the 2022 Washington Monthly College Rankings. This Guide is considered the socially conscious alternative to other rankings. TAMIU appears regularly in the “Best Bang for the Buck” ranking, and also ranked fourth last year. TAMIU has appeared repeatedly in the Top Ten since 2012.
  • You’re now more familiarized with the campus, faculty and programs… but did you know that TAMIU faculty members recently received Service Awards recognizing over 555 years of combined service to TAMIU? Find out more and congratulate your faculty member for their lasting contribution.
  • Did you know that TAMIU has an impressive Esports team? Last week, team members visited Trautmann Elementary School to discuss esports, the accelerated reading program and the importance of reading and writing skills -- and how all can eventually translate to potential college admission and opportunities as collegiate esport athletes. The team competes through the National Association of Collegiate Esports, the primary organization for college esports with 120 member institutions in the U.S. You can also check them out on Twitch. • The week of September 5, TAMIU will be conducting required emergency evacuation. The Office of Environmental Health and Safety, in conjunction with the University Police Department and the Physical Plant, will be conducting evacuation drills during the week of September 5, 2022.
  • During these approximately 15-minute-long drills, flashing lights and a siren or emergency message will be communicated building-wide. You must immediately evacuate the building by following the EXIT signs to your closest exit, then head to your designated emergency assembly area. Return to the building when given the “All Clear” by a UPD Officer. Additional details are posted in Blackboard Announcements.
  • Please note that COVID-19 continues to be a threat here, across our State, nation and world. The use of recommended face coverings/masks, and rigorous hand-washing can help reduce your exposure risk. Learn more about on-campus testing.
  • Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by infection with the monkeypox virus. As the disease also remains a threat to college campuses, TAMIU students are encouraged to remain informed about the disease. Monkeypox Information specific to colleges and universities is available on our COVID-19 Response Center website.
