For a long time, does humans have consumed the products our planet give to us. However, we consume too much, so the solution humanity has created is overproduction. For this reason, everybody has what they want in the quantity they want. Of course, that type of consumption made a lot of waste but nobody talks about that. Quickly, we all need to associate ourselves to make a big difference. In fact, food waste is a current problem. In the entire world, we throw food in the garbage that can be used by other humans in need and who can’t afford it.

At the present time, we need to be careful because in the entire world, 1.3 billion tons of food is put in the trash every day; that represents the weight of 216 666 667 elephants. For many reason, the waste of food costs a lot to the economy. Presently, it’s a danger to humanity because when you put this amount of food in the garbage, it can be dangerous for the ecosystem. In addition, the reasons why this amount of food is wasted are bad weather, processing problems, overproduction, overbuying, etc. According to research, North America and Oceania surpass the other countries with 42% of the food wastes in the entire world.

Uniquely, Canada, our country, wasted 60% of the food we made according to a report. That’s more than half of the food that’s put in the trash for a lot of different reasons, and we eat well. It’s sure, the other countries make our mistake but worse because we have compost and they don’t. In 2022, almost 690 million people suffer from malnutrition, but if we recycle food instead of always throwing it all in the garbage, we can help the others and donate some food to them.

In conclusion, it can be a piece of cake to stop food waste you just need to respect your food. For example, you can shop efficiently, be smart about storage, not buy 2 for 1 discount when you know you’re not going to eat the second item before the expiration date comes. Also, throwing away a food item according to the expiration date is wrong because sometimes, it can be good a long time after the due date. To finalize, the solution is to not order too much from the restaurant when you know you’re not going to eat all. With all these solutions, we just need to reduce 15% of food waste as an objective, and that can feed 25 million more people.
