April Flame April 3rd, 2022

Upcoming Dates (see details below)

  • April 6-9 - Cheney, WA Districts Event
  • April 20-23 - Houston, TX World's Event
  • April 30 - Business Subteam Bingo/Raffle Fundraiser (SAVE THE DATE)

UPCOMING FUNDRAISER (SAVE THE DATE): The business subteam has been working hard to prepare our team's next fundraiser. Through donations, we have been able to compile various items to make different gift baskets to raffle off. In addition to a gift basket raffle, we will be having bingo with prizes. All of this will (hopefully) result in some funds for the team, and it allows us to work with local businesses! If you have any items that would be good in a gift basket, please email kmleblanc75@gmail.com with comments or questions. We have a wide selection of baskets, so we will most likely be able to fit anything into a basket. Thanks for your help!! Save the date and spread the word! :)

BOWLING UPDATE: Through everyone's help, we were able to raise $1,800 from Langer's Entertainment Center! These funds will be a huge help to our team. Thank you to everyone who went and participated! The business team had a lot of fun planning this event, and we hope to do more like it in the future.

NEW BUTTONS FOR CHENEY AND WORLDS: The business team has been hard at work preparing buttons for the upcoming competitions. We wanted to design a button that was funny and "on-trend" so we decided on a "Wordle" themed Error Code Xero button. We will be producing around 250 buttons for the competitions to see how much people like them.

CHENEY COMPETITION UPDATES: Even if you are not going to Cheney there are still ways you can be kept up to date on what's going on. Check Discord the day of competition for the link to the stream to tune in to the competition. Practice matches are not streamed, so the stream will start late afternoon on Thursday. CANS AND BOTTLES DONATIONS: Throughout the 2021-2022 season, please collect all of your cans and bottles for team 1425. The can donations provide funds to help pay for travel for students and mentors. Last year from cans and bottles alone, we made over $1200. For the month of April, BottleDrop will be donating additional funds in honor of Earth Day (additional 20%!!!). Please continue to collect cans and bottles and drop them off at the Kassab's house (28911 SW Cascade Loop). Cans need to be dropped off by April 16 for more money to be raised! Thanks for your help!

WERK DAY: In previous years, our team has collectively volunteered at Wilsonville WERK day. This year, the event is on April, 30 from 9:00am to 11:30am. However, as of now, the business sub-team is planning on hosting a fundraising event that night, so we are not planning on making it a mandatory team event. The city of Wilsonville needs volunteer help! If you can make this event, throw on your Team 1425 t-shirt and go volunteer! We hope you enjoy the store. To shop, go to: https://www.wilsonvillerobotics.com/shop/

ROBOT NAME - SPARKY: The robot name was settled via a poll. All 1425 team members where encouraged to vote on the names. The final two names that were voted for where "Dragon Fire" and "Sparky". With the latter winning the vote. There where many submissions for the robot name before they were narrowed down to those two. Overall, this served as a great team bonding experience, and resulted in a very fitting name for the competition robot.
