beyerl / baumann earn field athlete of the meet

Throwers Walker Beyerl and Brooke Baumann have been improving all year as they make a push for a strong finish to their senior seasons. Both athletes knew their chances of doing well were high as long as they did what they can do, and they did not disappoint.

Walker threw for two personal bests in the throwing events earning conference championships in both the shot put and the discus.

His winning throws of 47'03 in the shot put and 144'11 in the discus were both personal bests, cracked the top 10 lists, and earned him the double conference champion.

The performance earned him the conference field athlete of the year for the boys as voted on by the head coaches of the GNC.

Brooke Baumann showed she is ready to make a push through the championship phase of the season.

Brooke's throws of 34'9.5 in the shot put and 126'02 in the discus were both meet winning throws.

In addition to the winning mark in the discus, her throw was also a personal best, moved her up the top 10 list, CONFERENCE RECORD, and considered a Silver Standard performance by Milesplit.

The performance earned her the GNC Field Athlete of the Year.

Joining Walker and Brooke on the all conference list was Junior Bekah Bouton.

Bekah threw personal bests 34'08 and 117'04 to earn 2nd team all conference recognition in both the shot and disc.

selenske, KENNEDY, and fitzgerald earn 1st team honors

Annabella Kennedy earned 1st team all conference recognition while matching her personal best mark of 4'10.

Each meet she gets closer and closer to the 5'0 milestone and we look forward to seeing her perform in the upcoming weeks!

Senior Claire Selenske looked to earn points while participating in the 100m hurdles.

She far exceeded her own expectations as she set a new season best in the event with a time of 17.99 earning a spot in the finals.

In the finals she set a new personal best time of 17.23 which earned her a conference championship in the event.

She followed up that performance with a meet winning 49.68 in the 300m hurdles.

Kate Fitzgerald had a huge day for the team and for herself in competing in the 100m, 200m and 400m as well as the triple jump. All of those events have prelims and finals in the conference meet but she did not let that stop her from achiveing what she set out to do.

Kate qualified for the finals in the 100m and 200m with times of 12.99 and 27.15.

Later in the meet she would sprint to a lifetime best 59.62 in the 400m which won the event and puts her in the top 10 list in that event.

She also won the 200m dash in the finals, but unfortunately we have no time due to an error in the system.

Congrats Kate on earning 1st team in two events.

team earns 2nd team honors in eight events

Kyle Miller placed 2nd in the 100m dash finishing in a time of 11.66.

Kyle would follow that up with a 2nd team all conference performance in the 4x1 with a time of 45.27.

Joining him on that relay and in all-conference were Barnes Bunkelman, Evan Utphall, and....

Wyatt Harris.

Britt Fitzgerald earned 2nd team recognition in the 1600m run with a time of 5:49.75.

She also came into the finals in the long jump outside all conference looking in, and was not satisfied.

She popped a top 10 mark of 16'03.75 which moved her into 2nd place in the event.

Adalyn Lehman stepped up big for her team by sprinting the 100m, 200m, and 400m as well as long jumping.

She made her way into the finals in the 200m with a time of 28.12 with gas left in the tank.

Later on in the meet after sprinting 4 other events, she surprised people with a 2nd place performance in the 200m.

Unfortunately there was no time due to the timing system error, but it was without a doubt a personal best in the event!

Despite two huge personal bests in the 100m hurdles, Malina Carattini learned she was just outside of all-conference placing in the event.

She did not let that crush her, but instead let it fuel her for the 300m hurdles.

She set a new personal best time of 50.88 which is one step closer to her season goal of 50.00. The time would earn her 2nd team all conference reconition!

Not to be satisfied with two 1st team performances, Kate would also earn 2nd team honors by sprinting a lifetime best of 12.59 in the 100m as well as 33'01 in the triple jump.

Her 2nd place time in the 100m puts her in the top 10 in the event and came down to a photo finish for the winner. The official photo showed her getting edged out by only 0.0035 seconds.

Kate was the top point scorer overall in the meet with 36 total points!

Evan Utphall began hurdling last year and the decision paid off.

Evan earned honorable mention in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.77.

He would also jump 19'00 to place 3rd in the long jump.

He finished the race with hope in his heart as he knows he has faster times ahead of him as he makes a run in regionals/sectionals next week.

Kyle Miller shook some rust off in the triple jump with a 3rd place mark of 39'2.5 earning honorable mention recognition.

Big jumps are on the way!

Joining our individual honorable mention athletes are the girls 4x2 and girls 4x4 relay teams.

With some individuals to step up in the relay roles, they did not disappoint.

The 4x2 team of Bella Kyhos, Malina Carattini, Macey Mielke, and Macie Hartle finished in a 3rd place time of 1:55.43. Personal best splits were achieved by Bella (28.6), Malina (27.4), and Macey (28.7)
