About the Artist
My name is Sky Hoffos, and I am an Alberta based artist of Ukrainian descent. My immediate family came to canada over a hundred years ago, but I am still in contact with relatives in Бовдури, and they are telling us stories now of explosions, bridges and railways blown out, and fear in the countryside.
A large piece of my artwork is focused on Ukrainian Pysanka style acrylic painting. These pieces have been shown at the ACUA Art Gallery, and every piece is original, there are no prints created. I am constantly making new pieces, and I love this therapeutic geometric style. These paintings are each made in the same way as a waxed Pysanka egg, and once the painting is revealed, it is left as it is, beautiful natural blemishes and all, in the same way that you cannot change an egg once the wax is melted off. Imperfections make each piece unique.
I have specifically designed this website to sell my art pieces in support of the refugees and those trapped in Ukraine. I have direct connections to Ukraine, and the money will be going straight there.
