DESTINATION IMAGINATION

This team of sixth graders competed in the Regional Division of Destination Imagination in the Engineering Challenge on February 11. The Divas and The Dudes placed 1st in their challenge to advance and compete at State Competition on March 25 at UT Arlington. For their challenge, the team had to design and build a roller coaster for a golf ball using only small tubing, cardboard, wood and adhesives. They were scored on the design, length and speed of their coaster. They were also tasked with writing and acting out a skit depicting their experience riding on their coaster. Our team created a family of Goats of Coats enjoying a harrowing experience on a less than perfect roller coaster. They created their costumes and set design to enhance their performance. Our team was also honored for the high score in their Instant Challenge.

Student Government Day!

Mercedez A. got to be the Principal for the Day on Student Government Day!

Our 8th grade math department had a college collage assignment. They had to research a college/university of their choice, find the yearly tuition, and calculate various costs: getting a scholarship, family and personal contributions and saving throughout high school.
