Purpose of the Collection of Suggested Readings
To be able to effectively support Black-led grassroots organizations, once must understand the historical racial inequities and injustices that are baked into all systems within the United States, including the Nonprofit and Philanthropy Sectors. Solutions to these organization's challenges must also factor in and center the unspoken and ubiquitous racial bias that Black Leaders of nonprofits have to navigate when working to uplift and support their communities.
Educating yourself on the racial landscape of the nonprofit sector and philanthropy will better equip you to not only provide feedback and guidance that can actually be implemented but, it will better equip you to be a disruptor and co-conspirator in your personal and professional interactions in general.
We hope the following readings assist you in the aforementioned ways and lead you down the path of life-long learning about and action against racial injustice and inequities.
