Esteve’s goal with the Black Note family of lamps was for the shades to give the appearance of harmoniously floating on the main light structure. To achieve this feeling, the wood veneer shades were specially designed to gently affix to the main light structure. Each shade is open in the back and joined with a metallic back plate with an LED light. The LED brings a warm glow to the wood shade.
Ramon Esteve has also designed a new family of lamps for LZF named Thesis. Both collections debuted at Euroluce in Milan, April 2019. Black Note is made of wood and metal, by hand, in Spain.
About Ramón Esteve...
Ramón Esteve founded his eponymous studio in 1991, with the confidence and conviction that architecture was a global discipline. Since then, both he and his team have worked to generate design solutions that encompass unique spaces, objects and brands. For Esteve, architecture and design are complementary disciplines, each one enriching the other.
LZF was born in Valencia in 1994...
among friends, on the shores of the Mediterranean, that inexhaustible source of light, calm and joy.
We found that wood, cut into thin sheets and attached to a light source, made exquisite company.
We build lamps like someone who weaves dresses, polishes jewellery or models sculptures. We create harmonic, elegant, unique shapes. We select each sheet according to its grain and its transparency; we choose its colour and we take care of it as though it were a luxury fabric, ensuring that its properties were adequate to create each volume.
We research and patent our own processes to build them.
We always strive to eliminate polluting processes and to integrate sustainable processes, and we love technology.
All the wood used is FSC and comes from forests with controlled logging. We do not believe in obsolescence and we like that all of our packaging is biodegradable.
This way of creating, which combines traditional knowledge, handmade by expert craftsmen, with technology, has allowed us to define collections with their own, diverse identity. This invites the client to identify with the model they need and like. You want to fill your life, and the lives of those around you, with light.
We love the architecture, painting and music that are part of our training. We love shapes, colour, rhythm, noble materials, beauty, and light. We like to enjoy our work and share ideas.
We are a team of craftsmen, designers, engineers, communicators, illustrators, writers, accountants, salespeople, strategists, and inventors.
We are LZF. We are light artisans.
