Character Word of the Month

Optimistic

Optimistic means having a positive or hopeful. outlook. An optimistic person believes that things will generally turn out for the best, even when faced with challenges. Optimists tend to see the positive side of situations and look for solutions rather than dwelling on problems. They believe that they have the skill and ability to make good things happen.

Georgia Milestones

The Georgia Milestones Assessment is an online, criterion referenced, summative assessment created by the Georgia Department of Education. Federal law, specifically the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), requires annual testing of all students in grades 3 through 5 in the content areas of mathematics, English language arts, and science (grade 5 only) in order to determine how well students have mastered the state adopted content standards, as well as provide students, parents, and teachers information about academic achievement and readiness for the next grade level.

Milestones Dates:

  • April 22 - ELA (Section 1)
  • April 23 - ELA (Section 2)
  • April 24 - ELA (Section 3)
  • April 29 - Math (Section 1)
  • April 30 - Math (Section 2)
  • May 1 - Science (5th grade only)
