NBC Tower 455 N Cityfront Plaza Dr, Chicago Il 60611

The NBC Tower is located at 455 N Cityfront Plaza Drive, right next to the Chicago River and only a couple blocks away from Lake Michigan.

Building construction began in 1985 and was complete in 1989. The architect was a man named Adrian Smith.
The NBC tower has 37 floors and it is 617 feet tall to the roof and 757 feet to the tip of the spire. 
Before the building, the area was filled with vacant lots, warehouses, and a sugar refinery in the late 1980's. Today it has 850,000 feet of rentable space and prices per square feet vary. 
This was one of the filming locations for the Nicholas Cage movie The Weatherman. Also, the WSNS (channels 44 and 45) TV studio was used for the New York network studio scenes.

The peacock at the top of the tower illuminates at night. It was lit for the first time on October 20,1989.

September, 2010: This building was named #28 on Chicago Magazine's list of the Top 40 Buildings in Chicago.
The nbc tower was inspired by the 30 Rockefeller plaza building in New York, an 850 feet skyscraper known for serving as the NBC headquarters.
Th building has served home to shows such as the Jenny Jones show and the Jerry Springer show.

Today the building is used to broadcast news by NBC and serves as a home to many.
Tenants - WMAQ/NBC, WSNS/Telemundo and formerly WMAQ/WSCR radio studios were/are here. The Consulate-General of India in Chicago is located in Suite 850. The Consulate-General of South Korea in Chicago is located in Suite 2700. The Consulate-General of Lithuania in Chicago is located in Suite 800.
