The spectacular images snapped by the James Webb Space Telescope have inspired people around the world, including us at UTSA! As we marvel at both their beauty and science, we know this is just the start!
Join us on UTSA's Main Campus as the UTSA Choirs present a selection of pieces inspired by the images produced by the JWST. This innovative choral experience offers commentary on our dreams of continued space exploration and includes works by Haydn, Monteverdi, Ticheli. Accompanying the music will be projections of the groundbreaking images produced by the JWST.
Featuring introductions by Interim Director of the Space Telescope Science Institute Dr. Nancy Levenson, and Councilwoman Dr. Adriana Rocha Garcia. A description of the images by astrophysicists will precede the recital.
Performing ensembles include the UTSA Concert Choir and University Chorus under the direction of Jordan D. Boyd. The ensembles will be joined by collaborative pianist Mary Lowder and violinist Dr. Nicole Cherry. Desiree Garcia and Dr. Chris Packham will provide insights into the images during the pre-concert talk.
