Petersham Center School Newsletter November/December 2022

Hello PCS Community,

It is hard to think that we are already in December and only about short 3 weeks away from our holiday break. This fall has flown by with lots of fun activities and a ton of quality learning. Our students have gotten to enjoy things like a Turkey/Chicken Trot, a Halloween Play and kindergarten parade, a few whole school meetings, and many other small events that take place daily in each of their classrooms. One big change coming in the next few weeks is the departure of our full-time special education teacher, Beth Cass to her own children's school district. Mrs. Cass will be missed here at PCS and I want to wish her the best in the future. We have posted her position and already have plans in place to ensure that special education students' services will not be disrupted.

Turkey Trot

We had a great 1st Annual Turkey/Chicken Trot. Mr. Waters did a fantastic job of setting everything up and getting kids excited to run, walk, or jog. We were very lucky to have a huge amount of volunteers that assured all of our students of a safe and fun time. Thank you to all!!

Peace Poster

Grade 6 took part in The Lions Club Peace Poster contest again this year. Congratulations to our school winner, Summer Sullivan. Her poster is off to be judged on a state level now.

Halloween Parade

In late October we had our Kindergarten participate in their yearly Halloween parade through the school. The intercom plays some spooky music and they tour the school to show off their costumes. We had some pretty awesome costumes this year.!

Grade 3

Grade 3 is very excited to share their progress in learning about multiplication!!!

Classroom Visitors

Very often here at PCS we have students from all ages that ask to go back and visit with former teachers and younger students. In these pictures we have a 1st grader reading to our kindergarten class and a few high schoolers playing games with first graders.

Alphabet Fashion Show in First Grade

Our first grade put on the first Alphabet Fashion Show. The students each had letters and they had to decorate their vests to showcase all of the words they could make using their letters. We even got a visit from our Superintendent Dr. Liz to come to watch the show. Great work Mrs. Roy and the rest of the first grade!!

Grades 1 and 2 Halloween Play

In late October grades 1 and 2 practiced and took part in a wonderful Halloween play. This had been a tradition that Mrs. Leblanc and Mrs. Roy had done for years that we were finally able to bring back after the pandemic. Parents were invited to join and take part in the show.
