Middle School Presentations

Math with a Technology Twist

Teachers Mike Oleksy and Amanda Rees demonstrate how Smart Board technology, Chromebook, and the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum provide scaffolds to Conrad students earning high school math credit before 9th grade.

Science as Discovery

Science teacher Justine Wood uses inquiry-based instructional techniques with a hands-on approach to capture the imagination of our middle school students while preparing them for the rigors of the ever-changing world of science.

Middle School Science Exploratories

A life-science magnet school offers middle school students the opportunity to gain exposure to the life science industry. Join Beth Blohm as she outlines the exciting and unique course offerings of Technology, Business, Forensics, Plant and Animals Science, Emergency Response Skills, Anatomy and Physiology, Computer Coding, and Applications of Bioscience.

Social Studies in a New World

Join the Middle School Social Studies Department as they show how classrooms make history, geography, and government come alive at Conrad.

Middle School English Language Arts

Join Monique Neal for an inside look at Conrad's unique approach to reading, writing, speaking, and listening in middle school English.

Extracurricular Clubs and Activities

The school day does not end at 2:15 at Conrad Schools of Science. Learn about the expansive list of traditional and science-based clubs offered to Conrad students throughout the year. Rob Naylor will share how to get involved in extra-curricular at the school and the research-based connection a well-rounded resume has to academic success.

Pathways

Biomedical Sciences

Join Rob Naylor as he shares the many career possibilities in the field of medicine as introduced through the Project Lead the Way curriculum.

Biotechnology

Bill Coughlin, Science Department Chair, shares the lab skills students will acquire in a rich, industry-based Biotechnology curriculum.

Computer Science

Meet Elliott Seifert, as he explains his Computer Science pathway. The coursework requires students to write in three coding languages, and provides exposure to Java, the premier computer science language.

Nursing Tech

Join teacher JeanAnn Crowe, RN, as she discusses the Nursing Pathway which leaves our students college and career ready upon graduation. Current students will demonstrate lessons and patient care techniques.

Physical Therapy and Athletic Healthcare

Meet teachers Renee Allen (ATC, CSCS, a certified athletic trainer, and physical therapist) and Maureen Olejar (MSPT, ATC, certified athletic trainer) as they discuss Conrad's Physical Therapy and Athletic Healthcare pathway and showcase Conrad's Physical therapy clinical classroom

Veterinary Science

Teacher Katrina Fontinha will explain her pathway where students will learn the anatomy and physiology, nutrition, ethics, and healthcare for various animals. Through the Veterinary Science pathway, students will learn how to care for small animals in the classroom and animals living in Conrad's barn. Students will also have the opportunity to become a certified veterinary assistant.

Curriculum

Dual Enrollment and College Courses

Nationally Board Certified teacher Dr. Barbara Prillaman will explain Conrad's partnership with the local college community and the opportunities Conrad students have to earn high school and college credits during their junior and senior years.

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

Meet Conrad English teacher Colette McDonald as she explains the challenges and opportunities for intellectual growth inherent in advanced placement classes at Conrad. Mrs. McDonald's AP English Literature class is rigorous and relevant to her inquisitive high school students.

CSS: An AP Capstone School

Meet Conrad English teacher Katrina Holloway as she introduces the College Board's Advanced Placement Capstone Program - Conrad's newest academic initiative. The coursework cultivates curious, independent, and collaborative scholars, and prepares them to make logical, evidence-based decisions while preparing them for Conrad's 20 AP courses.

21st Century Math

Teacher Leo Marianiello demonstrates how Smart Board technology, Chromebook, and a new math curriculum allow students to persevere in solving problems, reason abstractly, and construct viable arguments.
