Adams Arrival Map

When your children arrive at Adams in the morning, they should meet with their class outside the building--you can see the assigned locations on the map posted here. The first several days of school teachers will meet their classes outside and bring them in, together. All of the K-2 students gather in front of the east side of the building, and then head in the Lower El Entrance. All of the grades 3-5 students gather in front of the west side of the building, and then enter through the Main Entrance. If your child is walking to school along the path from Woodview Pass to the back of the building, they may enter the doors on the north side of the building after the first bell.

Technology Update--ParentVUE, Student Chromebooks

As we start the school year with our new student information system, you received an email asking you to sign up for ParentVUE, our new Parent Portal. If you have trouble signing up, please let us know in the school office, and we can give you a new login. ParentVUE is how you will update your school records, view grades, see class assignments, and more. New student Chromebooks are being delivered to Adams today, and they will be distributed to students early in the school year. Before students can take the Chromebooks, you need to fill out the technology forms in ParentVUE, including the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), insurance form, and device agreement.

Adams Staff Shout-Out!

A hearty "Congratulations" and the first Adams Shout-Out of the year goes to 3rd grade teacher Beth Curtis, who was recognized this week as winner of the Gerstacker Award for Excellence in Teaching. Mrs. Curtis is a wonderful teacher, devoted to the academic and social-emotional success of her students, and is also a mentor and leader on the 3rd grade team. Congratulations, Mrs. Curtis, and thank you for all that you do!

Help Wanted!

Adams Elementary is hiring! We are in need of several paraprofessionals to help out in our classrooms. If you are interested, please reach out to Mr. Cochran (923-6037, email cochranjs@midlandps.org) or apply at www.midlandps.org.

Lunch/Breakfast No Longer Free for All Students

When the 2021-22 school year ended, so did free meals for all students. Congress recently declined to continue allowing all students access to free meals. If your student(s) still qualify for free or reduced meals, they can still receive them, but you must take action to make it happen. Please fill out the 2022-23 online application for access to qualify for free/reduced-cost breakfast and lunch. If you have questions, please reach out to our Food Service Department at 989-923-5062. Students who are eating school breakfast may come in through the main entrance any time after 8:25 a.m. and head back to the Cafeteria. Apply for free/reduced-cost meals here: https://midland.familyportal.cloud

Covid Procedures Simplified

Hopefully (!) we won't be talking about Covid very much this school year, as we all learn to live with its presence, as we do with other communicable diseases. With the plentiful access to vaccines and boosters, and the exposure that most of us have had to Covid in our society, the Midland County Health Department and the county school superintendents developed a straightforward approach for us to use. At this point we are doing the following: if a student or staff member has Covid, they will let us know and isolate at home for five days. When they return to school, they will be masked for days 6-10. Schools are not doing contact tracing at this time; however, when we are told of a case at school, we will send home a letter informing the class.

Meet the Principal Monday, August 22 from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.

  • This will be an opportunity for Adams' Families to Meet Mr. Cochran on the first day of school. The plan is to have this event outside of the Lower Elementary Entry doors, however, if it is raining it will be moved inside to the Media Center. PTO will be providing light morning refreshments.
