Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island sends students to sea, on voyages in which the traditions, values, and adventures of maritime life provide a unique context for education
Join us for a 14 week semester, voyaging thousands of miles through the inter-island, near coastal, and ocean waters of the Eastern Carribean and U.S. East Coast. Guided by the professional crew and educators, students learn every aspect of operating the ship. Watch duties include navigating and steering, standing lookout, handling sails, preparing meals in the galley, and working to maintain the safety the of the ship and all her crew. The ships company is divided into a 3-watch rotating system that will carry through the entire voyage.
Aboard the Oliver Hazard Perry students will combine learning to sail a square rigged ship with a unique classroom environment
Possible trip locations
Learn: Marine science, maritime & Caribbean history, maritime literature, marine applied mathematics, navigation & seamanship. All fully accredited.
