Bookbags and Cell Phone Policy Updates
Starting January 18th, all bookbags (unless for medically verified purposes validated by our school nurse) are to be in lockers. Students will not be allowed to have backpacks in classrooms. This will assist in a promoting a safe school environment for all.
Also on January 18th, CHS staff will be strictly enforcing the cell phone policy during instructional time. Students will not be allowed to use their cell phones during class time (even for school purposes). All students have been issued a school laptop to complete their work. Students may use their phones during lunch in the lunchroom or during passing time. We hope by all staff being on the same page, student achievement will increase and student drama and discourse will decrease!
It is the last week of the semester, so please take advantage of these opportunities for extra assistance!
IMPORTANT DATES
- Friday, January 14th - NO SCHOOL for students who are passing classes! Teachers will be available for CREDIT RECOVERY 8:30 am - 11:30 am. Come in at 8:00 am and grab breakfast!!!
- Monday, January 17th - NO SCHOOL
Bell Schedule Changes Start February 1st
- Previous communication discussed how we would be moving Rise Above and Homeroom to after 7th hour. A slight change to that is below!
- These changes will not start until February 1st!
- If students are proficient on Edmentum (or have shown enough growth) and have a C or better in their classes, they will be allowed to miss Rise Above on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 3:01. It is important for students to give their best on the Edmentum assessment, as well as in class every day!
- On Monday's and Friday's, our schedule will look the same as it does now, with Homeroom being between 2nd and 3rd hours. The main reason for these changes is that it allows us to continue our Character Strong Curriculum, as well as ensure students are aware of their grades and we can share if they have to be in Rise Above for that week. Student's would not get out of school until 3:35 on these days.
