Term 3A Week 2

It’s been a lighter week for photos this week, but no less busy! We welcomed Miss Houda to a class who will be working with us until almost the end of the summer term. We have been getting to know each other before she will begin teaching some of our lessons towards the end of next week.

In English, the children have adored reading the story ‘Gorilla’ by Anthony Browne. They made nice links to another of his books we read, ‘Voices in the Park’, in the autumn term. The photographs below show the children reading independently and what joy the got from reading the story. It was a pleasure to see. They made some great observations of the illustrations and linked this nicely to their interpretations of the text. The children used a story map this week to complete their own retelling of the story.

In PSHE, the children thought about internet safety. Initially they considered all the things we use the internet for then before then contemplating things we do to stay safe.

There was more tennis skills in P.E.

In other subjects, we have been learning about Christian Rites of Passage and this week we thought about Baptism. We have also been finishing a little history from last half term on ‘How Have Schools Changed In Living Memory?’ before beginning our new humanities unit next week ‘What is a Monarch?’ Which is timed perfectly with the King’s Coronation this coming Saturday!
