BIO

The Producer Legend Sha Money XL returns to his roots—producing artists that are built to last. “I like real talent,” says the man born Michael Jean Clervoix of his legendary ear. “I want authenticity and substance.” The executive producer crucial in the breakthroughs of 50 Cent,G-Unit, 2 Chainz, Yo Gotti, Joyner Lucas, and Bobby Shmurda is back in the studio. At the top of 2020, he recorded his debut, Chain On The Bike Vol 1 & Vol 2 in 2021. Released through Sha’s Teamwork Music, the 9-song collection involves Prodigy, Styles P, and Domo Genesis, along with emerging voices like Tedy Andreas, Sandy Benjamin, Chubbs The Dreamer, and Stargiela.

The release traces a journey that dates back to the producer’s Queens Village, New York childhood. The boy of Haitian heritage followed his mother’s talent at the piano. Three decades before he was responsible for over 40 million albums sold, Sha played recitals at Carnegie Hall. Success at the instrument led to DJ’ing, production, and a coveted Def Jam Records internship. While at the label, Sha Money bonded with hometown hero Jam Master Jay. Alongside Jay, he recalls meaningful encounters with ONYX, Lost Boyz, and LL Cool J. The Run-DMC legend personally linked him with his artist, 50 Cent. In time, the two men would change music history.

Interning by day at Def Jam, Sha Money XL on Trackmasters street team at night sold beats his 1st beat to Cormega'Angel Dust", Royal Flush,Tragedy Khadafi, and others on the side. However, it was serving as a crucial liaison for 50 Cent that would eventually make him a household name to many. Years before any album, Fif’ and Sha lived that mantra. Introduced to each other by Jam Master Jay.The two cut over 30 songs in the producer’s basement studio. He also used his network to make crucial inroads for the unsigned rapper. It was during this era that Fif’ likened Sha to “the chain on the bike,'' given his ability to “keep things moving.” The keen comparison inspired his debut title.

Executive producing 2003’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, Sha Money helped launch G-Unit Records and served as label president. As 50 Cent established himself as a superstar artist and mogul, Sha positioned the label as a powerhouse. “Even though it wasn’t my company, I treated it as such,” he explains, adding The Game, Young Buck, and Mobb Deep to the roster while producing and overseeing an onslaught of platinum projects. “From 2001 to 2004, I recorded every song you heard G-Unit do,” Sha adds, recalling time as an executive, A&R, and engineer, all-in-one. Additionally, Sha created the One Stop conference, cultivating a community gathering for producers that merged legends like DJ Premier and Swizz Beatz with pupils and would-be hit-makers including Black Jeruz, Chad Beats, Jake One, S1, !llmind, and Canei Finch that he managed.

Expanding his repertoire beyond G-Unit, Sha has produced for 2 Pac,Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Mac Miller, Bobby Shmurda, Yo Gotti ft J cole, also parlayed his A&R ear at Def Jam in 2010 hired by La Reid then followed him to Epic Records to serve A&r executive posts. Throughout the 2010s, Sha Money XL ushered in more talent, from Big K.R.I.T. to Bobby Shmurda to Joyner Lucas. A&R for Travis Scott's 1st release Owl Pharaoh . In a new decade, he is trading the top-floor office for the studio that raised him. One of Hip-Hop’s greatest ears is back to doing what he loves most and does best Producing.
