Meet The SGA Board Newly elected members

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s Student Government Association council election commenced online. Ballots were accessed through a Google form via each student's class page on Canvas.

Candidates campaigned virtually the week before, from Sept. 14-22 by posting campaign posters on the MSD Eagle Eye Instagram as well as submitting a poster or video of themselves on Canvas. Some students decided to make Instagram accounts for this election and followed candidates asking for votes. On Snapchat, some students also decided to promote their friends’ campaign by posted their poster or video on their story.

Voting lasted from Wednesday, Sept. 23 to Friday, Sept. 25 at 3:10 p.m. The results were announced shortly after.

Results of SGA board election were announced on Instagram and Twitter after voting closed Sept. 25 at 3:10 p.m.

The winners were Jason Snytte as the newly elected president, Erika Koines and Savannah Azar as 1st and 2nd vice president, Jayden Broome as recording secretary, Sammy Fisher as corresponding secretary, Brett Unger as treasurer, Haley Bohm as historian and Sofie Cheremata as parliamentarian.

Each member has various responsibilities in their newly elected positions. Their goals for 2020-2021 school year are to bring school spirit despite the difficult circumstances students are facing throughout the current pandemic.
