Rule of Thirds

In this picture, I used the rule of thirds to bring out the focal points of the spider. The first focal point is the spot in the middle of the spider's back which is in the left center of the picture. The spider only takes up a little bit of the canvas. I edited it to make the composition brighter, I used the gradient tool to make the green background not so in your face. I also used the color picker tool to help get rid of anything that I made the picture look off like for example this picture had little hairs in ⅓ of the left side of the picture. After editing with rule of thirds my picture has better focal points and composition.

Macro

In this picture I felt that the spider didn’t show as well as it could've. So with this picture I used the airbrush tool to make the spots on the spider appear brighter. I also used the highlight tool to brighten the edges. The composition of the overall spider was dull so I found the focal point of the picture. I used the blur tool to make the background really stand out less and make the spider kind of pop. I brightened the spider to make it more of the focus.

Leading Lines

In this picture it was too bright so I used the levels tool to make the color in the picture pop a lot more. Then I used the highlight tool to make the focal point brighter. I used these tools because the focal point wasn’t bright enough and the ground was too bright. I used levels to make the picture not as bright.

Portraits

I chose this picture for my portrait because it shows her natural smile and beauty. This Picture was too bright to begin with so I took the curve tool and darkened the areas I felt needed to be darker. I used the clone and healing tool to help hide anything that stood out and took the focus off of her. I modeled her to be sitting on the steps and I took the picture from below her so she was actually looking at someone else in this picture.

Monochrome

I used this picture for monochrome because in color it had lots of light colors along with dark colors so I hoped that there would be lots of contrasts. I desaturated this picture in gimp after I desaturated it. The picture was very bright so I used the curves tool to darken it up. I then went through with the dodge and burn tool and lightened the log and the pool in the background a little bit, then I darkened the trees and the grass around it. This picture in color had lots of contrast so I hoped for that same contrast in monochrome.
