This battle fought during May 4 – May 8, 1942. This was a major naval battle in the Pacific Theater of World War II between the Imperial Japanese Navy. The Japanese were looking to take control of the Coral Sea with an invasion of Port Moresby in southeast New Guinea, but their plans were intercepted by Allied forces.
