Dear University community,

The summer is upon us and we welcome all our students participating in Summer Sessions… which offer a great way to get ahead or continue degree plan progress, of course.

  • I’m happy to share the good news that TAMIU will join its 11 fellow Texas A&M System campuses in NOT increasing tuition for the Fall 2022 semester. We fully realize that all are struggling with not only moving toward recovery from the Pandemic, but also dealing with the added stressors of inflation. We’re committed to managing our costs so that our mission to students is delivered daily as accessibly and affordably as possible. Find out more.
  • Registration for Summer and Fall classes continues. Use our new TAMIU Fund$Finder, a search tool that helps students find scholarships on and off-campus. There’s more at go.tamiu.edu/fundSfinder
  • Our Study Abroad program is back…and our first group of TAMIU students has already returned from Buenos Aires, Argentina. To find out more about this Summer’s Study Abroad programs, click here.
  • You may notice some younger-than-average students on campus lately. Many are participating in Summer Camp programs that provide innovative summer growth opportunities for youngsters, kinder through high school. Review some of the programs on offer here.
  • The threat of COVID-19 remains in our community and all communities. Let’s continue the use of recommended face coverings/masks, in addition to practicing distancing and rigorous hand-washing.

No Tuition Increase for TAMIU, All 11 Universities in Texas A&M System

The Texas A&M University System’s Board of Regents will not increase tuition for Fall 2022. The decision impacts all 11 universities in the Texas A&M System, including Texas A&M International University.

“These are troubling times for all families. The nation is moving towards Pandemic recovery, but the additional impact of inflation is troubling for all. TAMIU’s founding mission provides our motivating anchor: we are here to bring higher education to underserved and economically-challenged communities. We will continue to provide the accessibility, affordability, and excellence that our students and their families deserve. The Chancellor is right, we will manage our costs, and make sure that our mission is delivered, and continues to change lives daily.”

- Dr. Pablo Arenaz, University president

TAMIU Launches Certified Public Manager Program, Partners with City of Laredo

Last week, TAMIU launched a Certified Public Manager (CPM) Program designed to enhance public servants' skills and knowledge in municipal management and administration. The first cohort includes 15 City of Laredo department directors. The CPM program is a nationally-accredited program offered by TAMIU's Master of Public Administration Program through the Office of Continuing Education.

Marking Our Past, Signaling Our Future: TAMIU Entrance Pylon Removal Begins

The Texas A&M International University Entrance Pylon, a long-familiar campus fixture capped by an iconic globe, has served as a welcoming beacon to TAMIU for the past 27 years. It has marked our past and now signals our future. In partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation and the City of Laredo, this area now becomes part of Laredo’s dynamic growth with the conversion of Loop 20 into Laredo’s second interstate highway, IH-69 West. The University is proud to help lead this catalytic change. Elements of the pylon are being retained and will become part of the campus’ continued experience, welcoming new generations to TAMIU.
