Purim is Esther’s feast. We celebrate Purim looking toward the day of victory that all of God’s saints will have over their enemies. Esther lived during the days of Israel’s captivity. She was surrounded by an alien nation and by those in power who would destroy her people. She called on God with the only power that she had, her prayer and fasting.
Today our only power is through prayer and fasting. With prayer and fasting we can leap over walls and overcome the powers of the enemy that surround us.
If only we could see the enemy for what he is like this photo but that is not the case. Our greatest enemies are not physical of course, but spiritual, and the forces of darkness.
In the book of Ephesians Paul tells us to put on the full armor of God. Ephesians 6:13-18, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith,
wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
.
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
If we have on the whole armor of God we have the power to withstand the enemy. He will not defeat us. In the last days the Lord is going to give power to his children to defeat Satan’s children.
There will be a time of trouble and great persecution of the saints. God will put a sword of power in the hands of many of his children. Finally, at the battle of Armageddon after the Marriage Supper, Christ will lead all of his saints to slaughter the wicked. Purim points to all of these events. Let us remember who our enemy is right now
Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Psalms 149:5-9, “Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two edged sword in their hand; to execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute upon them the judgment written: this honor have all his saints. Praise ye the Lord.”
In the end we will gain a crown of life and will spend eternity in a brand new world; free from sin, sorrow, misery or death
