Women’s roles in their families were defined by their age and marital status: Daughter (or “virgin”), wife, mother, and widow. Men’s roles were defined by social position or occupation: merchant, knight, priest, peasant, barrelmaker, weaver, and so on. (King, 317)
for the husband, this meant providing his family,with any luxuries within his means the men was the master of the women. (Olsen, 464)
Common women were not aloud to go to school (William Shakespeare site-map, 1)they had no possessions the man owned all / They could not sheer or withdraw eny money (Olsen, 464)
Women played servant roles in their families (King,317) . Women could also be writers, artists, and intellectuals (King,324) Important jobs that women were responsible for would include textile pictures: spinning, weaving, and embroidering, both of the ordinary furnishings and clothes worn by family members in lower-status families and of elaborate luxury products in wealthier ones (King,318) Jobs that women could not participate in include, under the field of law, medicine and politics, and they could not vote.
