Apex High lacrosse alumni game By Andrew bulieris

On November 25th the Apex High School lacrosse team hosted an alumni game for past Apex lacrosse greats to come and show of their skills against each other on the turf field at Hunter Street Park in downtown Apex. The list includes players dating all the way back to the first varsity lacrosse team in 2002. Fifty players participated, and five coaches returned to sidelines. There were several alumni who returned to the watch the game and attend the after party but did not participate in the game. In all about sixty alumni were involved in the reunion. This was the third alumni game that was held for past Apex lacrosse players, and they hope to continue the trend over the years. Over one hundred people attended the after party at Brewster’s pub including family members.

The lacrosse team also participated in the Turkey Trot raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project. They donated $1,300 this year and over the five years they have been doing this they have raised about $10,000 overall for the project. The Wounded Warrior project is a charity and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following September 11, 2001. It operates as a nonprofit organization.

It was so cool to see past alumni players and coaches come together! Great teams make even better memories! Looking forward to another great lacrosse season!
