ZOOM LIKE A PRO: OUR TOP TIPS FOR VIDEO CONFERENCING & RECORDING

IT'S BEHIND YOU!

Ensure a neat backdrop which isn't open to disturbances. Have you considered branded virtual backgrounds?

DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?

Sound is so important - test your microphone first and limit background noise.

SAY NO TO NOTIFICATIONS

Notifications popping up on your screen can be distracting at best - and could have worse implications if screensharing! Remember to pause or turn off any notifications before the call begins.

KEEP YOUR EYES WHERE WE CAN SEE THEM

It's awkward to know where to look. Do you look at the other participants, do you look straight at the camera, or do you look at yourself and wish you'd brushed your hair/put some mascara on/got dressed?! Try to maintain 'eye contact' with the camera as much as possible, if you're reading from a script - position it near to the camera.

IF YOU'VE GOT NOTHING NICE TO SAY... GO ON MUTE!

Use the mute button whenever you aren't speaking. It helps to minimise any sound clashing or unintentional background noise. But remember to turn your mic back on when you do have something to add!

ALL ABOUT THOSE ANGLES, DARLING!

Positioning of your webcam is so important. If you're joining the call via your mobile, turn it around to horizontal so the full frame is utilised. No matter what device you join from, check the position of the camera - don't sit too close and avoid any unattractive up the nose views!

TESTING, TESTING...

Have a trial run of recording to check you know how to start and stop, and where to find your recordings. Zoom gives you the option to either save the recording to the device you are using or to the Cloud.

If you're looking to record a Zoom call and have further questions, we'd be happy to help.
