The Huron Tribe By: BRODY martin
Food
The Huron tribe has a big variety of food. Some food the Huron tribe eats is the same food that we eat today. Big game animals they hunted are deer, moose, and bear which provide a lot of meat. Small game animals would be squirrels, rabbits, and sometimes opossums. Some other meat they got was they fished. They also planted squash bean, pumpkins, sunflowers, and most importantly corn.

Homes
The Huron tribe lived in longhouses made of logs with tree bark all over them. Some Huron tribes had 200 longhouses and 4,000 people! Inside there were wood benches covered with fur that were also used for sleeping. Also inside there were three fire places in the big ones. Since they had no light or windows and all they could do was open the doors which let a little light in but not much so they lit the campfire. to protect the longhouses the used stockades made of sturdy upright logs.

Rolls of Men and Women
The women in the Huron tribe were out in the field tending the crops and washed the clothing. Also they made the food for the whole tribe. The men hunted deer and bears and traded the skins to some foreigners. When they aren't in doing that they are either growing tobacco or training the boys how to do stuff. The girls were gathering and storing food and preparing meals. The boys watched the men hunt, fish and make weapons. They also became skilled in making things from wood, flint, and animal bones.

Customs
The Huron tribe had an "Oral tradition" which mean that they had no written language(s) and no laws. They thought they were made on an island riding on the back of a turtle. One of their only traditions they had was a feast of the dead. This is when dead people get a nicer grave followed by mourning and celebration.
