Climate of U.K. Deciduous Forest
Rainfall: 500-1500mm a year
Average Summer temperature: 20-26 degrees °C
Average Winter temperature: about 0°C
There are four seasons in a Temperate Deciduous Forest, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring. Summer being the hottest and winter being the coldest
Net Primary Productivity
Temperate Deciduous Forests are located between 40° and 60° north and south of the equator. They are known to have warm summers with trees with leaves and cool winters with trees that have lost their leaves. The Temperate Deciduous Forest has the fourth highest net primary productivity of kilocalories per square meter per year , fourth most kilocalorie per square meter per day, it has more than 120 days of forest free nights, it is considered a Temperate Forest, they take up 22% of the earth's surface.
Soil Quality
The soil quality of Temperate Deciduous Forests is very rich and nutritious because during the winter the trees leaves fall and then decompose making very nutritious soil.
Invasive and Endangered Species
Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly
The Small Tortiseshell Butterfly has been declining because of a parasitic fly (H) in HIPPCO because this specific fly destroyed the habitat of the butterflies and there leaves that they lay eggs on and also poor summers have affected the butterflies which is (C) in HIPPCO.
