AVID
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is an academic elective course that prepares students for college readiness and success. Each week, students receive instruction that utilizes a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum provided by AVID Center, tutor-facilitated study groups, motivational activities, and academic success skills. In AVID, students participate in activities that incorporate strategies focused on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading to support their academic growth. Additionally, students engage in activities centered around exploring college and career opportunities and their own agency.
Advanced Academics
Advanced Academics 6-8 (Gifted) A fun hands-on class where students test their creative and critical thinking skills while participating in STEM challenges and problem solving. Students will also be given the opportunity to learn about multiple topics of their choice through project-based learning.
M/J VISUAL ART 1 & M/J 3D STUDIO ART 1
Experience a range of visual arts, including 2D and 3D media. Create projects and think critically about the arts. Students explore the structural elements of art while using Three-Dimensional forms. Ceramics, including bowls and vases, and sculpture works of their own design are produced in this course.

M/J Visual Art 2 & M/J DIGITAL ART AND DESIGN
Students continue to experiment and explore 2D and 3D materials. Students begin to work with more complex techniques and ideas as they explore the visual arts. Students explore concepts and techniques of digital imaging to create their own original works. Including photography, comic design, and animation.
Spanish II
Immersion in a foreign language that meets the standards of world readiness language acquisition. Students apply communication, interact with culture, connect with other disciplines, develop insight into the nature of language, and reflect on school and global communities at large. Class takes place in the target language and students receive high school credit.
Florida MARINE SCIENCE
Florida History/Marine class is designed to assist students in exploring and understanding our local, national and global environmental issues and possible solutions to those issues. It is the hope of the class that students will leave MBMS with a deeper appreciation of our environment and our need to preserve it for future generations. Students are given the opportunity to physically interact with the environment through various hands-on approaches to learning.
