We announced our new house captains today. Congratulations to Danny and Amber (Elm), Oscar and Alex (Ash), Oliver and Amber (Beech), Patricia and Edouard (Oak).

They will be ably supported by our new house point ambassadors: Isabelle, Oscar, Oscar & Nellie.

Homework

Now the children are settled and back in good routines for learning, we have begun re-introducing homework in line with our school policy. Initially, this will be mainly online. Your child will be allocated work on Spelling Shed or the Gold spelling programme and TTRockstars, alongside the expectation for regular reading at home. The children will also receive knowledge organisers linked to their learning, these are also available online.

Please click on the link for further information.

Non uniform days

Springboard Fund Raiser

All primary schools in Chippenham will be having a non-uniform day on Friday 1st October to help raise money for Springboard Charity in Chippenham. Springboard is a charity that supports pre-school children (aged 0-5) with special needs and their families in North Wiltshire. They are based in Chippenham but their catchment area covers the whole of North Wiltshire. They have been helping children and their families since 1976 and are the only specialist service of their kind in the north of the county. They cover a whole range of disability and learning difficulties. Younger children and their families attend their stay and play groups and children aged 2 and above can access their specialist preschool. They provide information, support and training to families and other pre-school settings as part of their outreach programme.

Springboard are facing huge financial difficulties this year especially following Covid and we hope that the town non uniform day will help provide some important funds for the charity. We will be asking for a donation of £1 per child which can be paid through ParentPay.

World Mental Health Day

On Friday 8th October we are joining thousands of schools, offices and communities to raise awareness of mental health by taking part in Young Minds ‘Hello Yellow’. Children can come to school wearing yellow, so dig out your neon socks, custard T-shirt and banana hat - let's show young people they're not alone with their mental health!

Follow this link if you would like to donate to Young Minds.

Braeside

Thank you to all of the parents who have paid for the Year 5 Braeside Residential Trip taking place in November. Payments can be made in installments on Parent Pay.

Regular payments can also be made for the Year 4 residential taking place in February.

FOMPS

AGM

Thank you to all those attending the AGM last night, it was great to hear some exciting plans for the year; both fundraising events and projects for the school, not least the exciting opportunity that the bungalow renovations will create.

We were unable to fill the committee role of secretary so please come forward if you are able. The role primarily requires taking minutes at our meetings and coordinating communications with members. It is very important but requires less time commitment. If you were not able to attend, our next meetings will be held:

• Thursday 14th October 3pm at school

• Thursday 4th November 8pm via Teams

The minutes will be circulated next week.

Fundraising

There are several ways you can easily contribute to FOMPS fundraising through your daily activities so please look out for:

The Morrisons Good to Grow scheme: to help purchase gardening equipment

The Tesco Community Grant scheme: for a contribution towards the bungalow renovations

Both of which are closing early October so please get your tokens in soon!

Also whilst you are shopping online remember to shop through:

Easyfundraising: and add Friends of Monkton Park School as your cause

Giving Machine: and support Monkton Park Primary School

where a percentage of your shop will be automatically donated to FOMPS and our school projects.

Of course, any questions please email FOMPSpta@gmail.com and we will be happy to help.

Thank you all for your support,

FOMPS
