East Atlanta Kids Club continues to grow!
We are so glad that you and your family are a part of our community! We are constantly looking for new ways to serve and we are excited to see smiles on kids faces as they leave here each day. Thanks for your support and for helping to make Kids Club what it is. Let's take a look at some of our recent highlights!
Mr. Paul's music production classes are underway!
So far, the kids are loving them! The younger students are learning about and creating different instruments, while our 4th - 7th graders have been developing beats! We're excited to see what they've created by the end of the program!
Mr. Germaine of #8LeggedScales is also back for the Fall and winter seasons.
He will be visiting us once a month with his unique and exotic pets! We are learning about these animals, where they come from, how to care for them, and how to face our fears.
Atlanta Rescue Dog Cafe brought by a new friend!
Ms. Diana and Louis from ARDC stopped by to teach our students about interactions with unfamiliar pets and other animals. They showed us the tips and tricks on how to approach dogs in the park, and the proper way to ask owners if we can or cannot touch a dog on a leash. We had so much fun with our newest furry friend!
On Thursday, October 27, 2022, during after school hours, Mr. Ryan was able to take over 30 of our attendees to the East Atlanta Farmer's Market to pick out free Halloween costumes.
Although short, it was a great opportunity for our students to leave the center, have a little fun, and explore the community. Thanks so much to EAV Farmer's Market for hosting such an awesome event and for inviting us!
EAKC held our first Trunk or Treat on Halloween!
We appreciate all of our volunteers and parents who dropped by to donate their trunks and creativity on Monday, October 31, 2022! If you missed it, make sure you plan to come by next year for our newest annual event. Check out our highlight VIDEO.
Bagel Rescue to the Rescue!
We love our monthly bagel deliveries from Bagel Rescue! Sending our families and staff members home with homemade, delicious, breads and bagels puts a smile on all of our faces. We appreciate the way the bagels come individually packaged and assorted so each family can try different varieties. Guess what... these bagels freeze and unthaw perfectly if you're looking to save them for later!
EAKC was closed on Election Day, November 8!
Whether during the early voting period or on Election Day, we hope you and your families took the opportunity to get out, vote and to make your voices heard. It doesn't matter who you vote for or what you believe, as long as you're exercising the rights that we all fought to have!
Thanksgiving break is upon us!
We are closed the week of Monday, November 21, 2022 in observation of the Thanksgiving Holiday. We hope you and your families find time to spend and enjoy together. We were surprised and blessed to hear that Community Table has selected four East Atlanta Kids Club families to receive Thanksgiving meals this year. It is so appreciated when people recognize that work that we do and find ways to support that. Thank you to their team! We will see you all back on Monday, November 28, 2022.
As you may know, this is our first year offering Girls on the Run at Kids Club!
All season long, our girls have been learning transforming life skills such as teamwork, goal-setting and self-empowerment. These ladies completed a practice 5K On November 10, 2022. Parents, families and teachers came out to support them as they ran 3.1 miles around Brownwood Park and the local streets. Kids Club showed out and helped cheer them all on as well. It was an awesome event and we're so grateful for our village.
Our season will culminate on Saturday, December 3 at the Girls on the Run 5K at The Battery Atlanta. Join our Kids Club team, and hundreds of other Girls on the Run participants and supporters at the 5K celebration! This non-competitive 5K event is sure to be an unforgettable morning of excitement, positivity and celebration as we come together to applaud our Girls on the Run girls on the lessons they’ve learned, obstacles they’ve overcome and confidence they’ve built over the spring season. Come out and party with us at The Battery as we reach our goals! We would love to see your faces!
Last year, we hosted our first Present Palooza!
Present Palooza 2021 was a three-day event that began on December 15, 2021. We were thrilled to offer a unique shopping and gift distribution experience to our EAKC members and the South East Atlanta community. We secured over 2000 items which included: toys, shoes, bags, home goods, home improvement items, kitchen goods, and more. We also received support from local business such as Holy Taco, who led their annual donation drive to collect items for the event. Our friends at British in The City and Origins Real Estate donated items for our EAKC youth from their wish lists to help make this event a success.
This year, we're doing it again and we're doing it bigger and better! We want to ensure that the spirit of care for others is central to our efforts this holiday season. We can use your assistance with supporting more kids and families at this year's Present Palooza1 This will be another three-day event, beginning on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. Families can register to shop by clicking here.
We will be closed for the Christmas break, following the Atlanta Public Schools calendar.
Our last day of programming for the year will be on Thursday, December 15, 2022. We will open back up in the New Year, on Tuesday, January 3, 2023! We will be hosting an event for our kiddos on Monday, January 2, so watch your emails for event details over the holiday break! Please be safe and have an amazing time with your loved ones.
Are you interested in FREE Solution-Focused Brief Therapy Sessions for adults?
The Institute for Solution Focused Therapy defines this type of counseling as " a short-term goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach, which incorporates positive psychology principles and practices, and which helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems."
Life can be tough, and we want you to take advantage of these sessions if you feel they can benefit you or your loved ones. Sessions are free, virtual, confidential, and are offered at flexible times. Please email intern@tameikalpc.com to schedule an appointment.
We appreciate all of you for helping to make East Atlanta Kids Club a major success and a prime choice for out of school time programming. Sending lots of love your way,
