Lone Mountain Eagle Eye January 24, 2022

Lone Mountain Families,

These past few weeks back at school we have seen an uptick in general illness, winter colds, and COVID cases. Please remember that it is best practice to keep your children home when they are feeling any symptoms of an illness. Please do not send your child to school if they are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test. If someone in your family tests positive for COVID-19, please consider following MCDPH guidelines that close contacts are advised to quarantine in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Please click here to see CCUSD's "remain in school plan" as well as flow charts and guidance from the Maricopa County Health Department regarding COVID-19 as it was recently updated. If you have any questions regarding COVID 19 protocols/ procedures here at LMES, please contact the front office so we may inform you.

Respectfully, Emily Hill

OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS AT LMES

We are thrilled to be back on campus and learning! As we begin the second half of our school year with a fresh slate, we would love your help with any past due books in the library.

If your student has any checked out library books that have not made their way back into the library, they received a printout that includes a picture of the cover of the book next to the book title. We understand that it seems like these books can grow legs of their own and end up in the trickiest hiding spots, sometimes to never be found again, making them the ultimate hide and seek champ!

But we don’t want you to feel defeated, so if your child’s library book (or books) have gotten the best of you, for the month of January we are reducing the replacement fee for ALL books to be $5! Please send your payment into the front office with your child and include your child’s name with the payment to ensure their account gets the credit, and you end up a winner!

CCUSD TEACHER OF THE YEAR

As a district, we believe teachers are at the core of this mission as they influence our students daily. The criteria used to select these teacher candidates is based in part on the Arizona Education Foundation, as well as highlights from our CCUSD Strategic Plan. We encourage you to nominate a Cave Creek teacher you know who meets these criteria:

* Spend the majority (over 50%) of their teaching assignment in direct instruction to students.

* Teach any grade Pre-K-12th (or combination) in Arizona. Teachers may work in any content area, including Special Education, P.E., the Arts, etc.

* Have completed at least six (6) full years as a classroom teacher at the time the application is submitted with the most recent three years in Arizona. Years of student teaching do not count toward the 6 year requirement.

* Be a full-time teacher and plan to continue in an active teaching status through the school year 2022-2023.

* Exemplify a “one team” mentality by taking responsibility for all of the unwritten additional duties in order to support our students. (i.e., creating community partnerships, serving our community beyond school hours, serving on campus and district committees, etc.)

* Support student success by encouraging students to take ownership of their learning through student-directed learning tasks so that they can successfully navigate career and life.

* Promote employee excellence by engaging in professional learning communities in a way that not only improves their own teaching, but the teaching of their colleagues as well.

* Create a safe learning environment by developing strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

* Demonstrate commitment to the Cave Creek community (i.e., engage in community events, longevity in the district, etc.)
