What a fantastic and busy half term we have just had. Year 6 and Year 2 have been amazing with their SATs. There has been some amazing work from every year group as they move into the final 7 weeks next half term. We had The Kindness Coach, Rock Kidz, Richard O'Neill, Zoom talks with Professors, Sporting achievements and lots of singing and playing!
It was great to see so many of you in school this afternoon as well, sharing in the learning experiences with the children. The RSE ppt from today can be found here:https://www.galleyhillprimary.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/RSE-26th-May-2022.ppsx
Next half term we focus on the theme of Nurturing Nature: Sustainable Development
We will look at how we share and use the earth’s resources affects the health of the planet and of everyone with whom we share it – now and in the future. There are many different interpretations of sustainable development, but at its heart lies a recognition that our relationship with the earth needs to acknowledge the limits of finite resources and the human rights of all.

School Dinners
First week back is week 1
Queen's Jubilee
Queen's Jubilee celebrations on Friday 10th June.
We will be having a picnic lunch for those on school dinners on that day, so that we can make the most of the afternoon's celebrations.
Parents can bring a picnic, play (see the amazing OPAL play in action) and celebrate the Queen's Jubilee.
The afternoon will start at 1pm - we look forward to seeing those who can make it there.

Well done to Evelyn Morton for winning the Golden Welly award this week, for being a huge help on the playground whilst tidying up, being super kind and a great role model for younger children.

Sports Day
This year we are making a full day of it and inviting those of you that can come along to be there with us. Reception to Year 6 will be running, jumping, obstacle course moving, team sport playing at the Sports Village in Middlesbrough.
This will give all the children in school to opportunity to take part in sporting events on a 'real' track and field environment.
It will take place on 18th July from 9:20am -3pm - Children will come to school as normal and we will be taking coaches there and back.
Scarborough
A date for the diary - we are currently planning a trip to Scarborough for Years 1 to 6. We will send further details via Parentmail after half term, but we will be going on July 15th leaving school around 8am and getting back to school for around 5pm. We will be able to finalise timings after half term. Reception and Nursery will also be doing something to celebrate the end of the year. We're looking forward to the trips!
Year 6 Leavers Performance
On Wednesday 22nd June, at 6pm, the children in Year 6 will be performing Cinderella and Rockerfella for their leavers performance. Entry to the performance is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
Transition
Year 6 children who are started at Laurence Jackson in September will be having a transition week there during the week of 4th July.
The rest of school will also start a transition period starting on 4th July as well. Further details, as well as class teachers, will be sent after half term.
The aim of this is to ensure the children have a meaningful transition for each year group before the summer holiday period and worked well last year.
