BENETEAU AND SPERRY CHARLESTON RACE WEEK ARE TEAMING UP TO OFFER THE COMMUNITY A FREE INTRODUCTION TO SAILING.

Each year thousands of sailors flock to Charleston, SC for the annual Sperry Charleston Race Week. Now in its 24th year SCRW is dubbed “a regatta unlike any other” and is the largest keel boat regatta in the Americas. In 2018 248 boats participated with approximately 3800 attendees representing 28 states and 4 countries!

This year Sperry Charleston Race Week is teaming up with BENETEAU to expand the event to the general public through the “Strictly First” promotion. With the help of St. Barts Yachts, the regional BENETEAU dealer, BENETEAU is providing two sail boats to offer anyone interested a chance to get out on the water.

The First 18 and First 27 will be on site at Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina, the race headquarters, for 30 – 45 minute trial sails.

The overall objective of Strictly First is to introduce people to the thrill of sailing. “The goal,” states Randy Draftz, Race Week President, “is to promote the sport of sailing.”

Charleston Race Week has evolved to become the largest regatta of its kind and with BENETEAU they hope to introduce sailing to an even wider audience.

The sport of sailing is as exciting as it is rejuvenating. It is a perfect way for friends and family to come together and connect. If you have always wanted to get out on the water and experience the thrill, NOW IS THE TIME! And the best part is..... it won't cost you anything!

Skippered by professional Captains these boats will take three to four people out at a time throughout the duration of Race Week, weather permitting.
