Colby Athletics Welcomes 3x Oympic Medalist Kacey Bellamy and Reagan Carey '01, Launch Leadership Speaker Series

#8 Mules Run Streak to 7 Wins

With one week to go in the regular season, Colby Women's Ice Hockey swept Conn. College to the tune of 3-0 and 3-1. With the two victories on the Jack Kelley Rink, the Mules now have their longest win streak of the season at seven games. The six tallies came from six different goal scorers, and Nina Prunster was once again stellar in goal, recording her seventh shutout of the season.

Nina Prunster turned away 47 of 48 shots over the two games, improving her goals against average to 1.01. She ranks second in the conference in GAA and Save Percentage.

Colby is now 15-3-0 and ranked 2nd in the NESCAC, 8th in Division III. They enter their final weekend of regular season action positioned to host a first-round playoff game the weekend of February 25-27.

Women's Basketball 2-1 on the Week to Close out Regular Season

Despite a midweek setback in Lewiston (75-62 in favor of Bates), the Mules regrouped to end their regular season with two wins. Caroline Smith tallied a double-double against Wesleyan to guide Colby to a 73-66 victory on Friday, and Keagan Dunbar notched her first 20-point game of the season Saturday as the Mules defeated UMaine Fort Kent 76-40.

Caroline Smith averaged 21 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Mules split their final two NESCAC matchups of the regular season. She now has four 20-point games on the season, and extended her double-digit scoring streak to seven games.

Colby finishes the regular season as the 11th seed (11-9) in the NESCAC. The Mules will go on the road Friday to face 6-seed Bowdoin College in the first round of the conference playoffs. Game time is slated for 7:00pm and can be streamed at the link below.

Nordic Skiing Strong at Dartmouth, Three in Top-10

Cooper Anderson fired in his career-best finish in the Freestyle at Dartmouth, placing 10th, and coming across the finish line as the second Division III athlete.

Colby Skiing continues cruising through the EISA season, completing their fourth Carnival (out of six) at Division I powerhouse Dartmouth. The women placed 4th in the Freestyle and 5th in the Classic, while the men were right behind, placing 6th in the Freestyle and 9th in the Classic.

Rose Clayton was Colby's top finisher in the Women's Classic on Friday, placing 17th. In Saturday's Freestyle, she posted her first career top-10 finish (10th place).

Morgan Leads Alpine Skiing at Dartmouth

Annaliese Fleck has posted top-20 finishes in all four EISA Slalom events this season.

After having the UVM Carnival postponed last weekend and pushed to future dates, the Mules were back in action at the Dartmouth Skiway for two Slalom races. Chauncey Morgan led Colby with an 11th place finish Friday, only to top his own mark with a 6th place finish Saturday.

Chauncey Morgan has proven to be Colby's top Slalom threat, placing 4th, 6th, and 11th in the three races he's finished.

To make up for the missed races last weekend, the Middlebury Carnival will be extended an extra day this coming weekend.

Women's Swimming & Diving 8th at NESCAC Championships

Hosting the NESCAC Championships for the first time in the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center, the Mules posted eight top-6 finishes and set new marks all over the pool. The top three finishers of each event earn All-NESCAC honors, and Colby's Ann Tolan (50 Freestyle) and Eleanor McGrath (1-Meter Dive) each earned the distinction with bronze medals in their events.

Ann Tolan earned All-NESCAC by placing 3rd in the 50 Freestyle, and set new school records in the 50 Free, 100 Free, and the 200 Freestyle Relay.

Jumping up a spot from 9th to 8th in the final day of competition, the 2022 team bested their 2020 point total by over 100 points.

Eleanor McGrath Earned All-NESCAC with a 3rd place finish in the 1-Meter Dive, and set new school records in the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Dives.

With the NCAA Championships right around the corner, the Mules will have one more chance to increase their qualifying positions as Colby hosts the NESCAC Invite this coming Sunday.

Men's Ice Hockey Completes Sweep of Middlebury, 1-1-1 on the Week

Brian Sanzone scored the opening goal against Middlebury, and added an assist on the game-winner.

Colby entered the week ranked #14 in Division III, and clearly had a target on their backs. In three matches on the week, the Mules won by a goal (3-2 over Middlebury), lost by a goal (1-2 setback at the hands of Trinity), and tied a game (2-2 at Wesleyan). Despite the even week, and falling just out of the top-15 ranking, Colby concluded its road games of the regular season and looks to finish strong this coming weekend with two home games on the Jack Kelley Rink.

Michael Morrissey had a goal and an assist as the Mules tied Wesleyan 2-2 on the road Friday.

Colby is currently 13-5-2 and holds a 0.5 point lead in the NESCAC standings for first place. The Mules are on pace to host a first-round playoff game when the NESCAC postseason begins the weekend of February 25-27.

Women's Squash Tops Conn. for 10th Place at NESCAC Championshps

Andrea Lee continues her stellar season, winning all three of her matches in the NESCAC Championships, and improving to 12-1 on the year.

The Women's Squash team competed in the NESCAC Championships, going 1-2 in the two-day event. Friday, the Mules fell to Bowdoin 1-8 to move to the consolation bracket. In its first consolation match, Colby topped Conn. College 5-4 before falling to Wesleyan in their final match 4-5.

Sophomore Karla Domingues won her match out of the 4-seed against Wesleyan.

Andrea Lee won all three of her matches from the 1-seed. India Spencer won two matches from the 3-seed, and Clara Lehv, Karla Domingues, Sabrina Teope, and Stephanie Keane each won a match in the series.

Men's Basketball Sets Sights on Playoffs

Lucas Green scored a career-high 19 points against Tufts Friday night. In the two NESCAC matchups this weekend, Green averaged 12ppg, 2.5rpg, and 4apg, and added a steal and a block, starting for the fourth and fifth times on the season.

Colby faced-off against the top two teams in the NESCAC this week, and played both opponents tough. Falling to 2020 NESCAC Champion Tufts Tuesday (53-61) and top-ranked Wesleyan Friday (70-87), the Mules now look to the first round of the NESCAC playoffs starting this weekend.

First year Jack Lawson tallied 21 points in the two game set, raising his total to 239 points in his inaugural season.

Colby enters the conference tournament ranked 9th (11-12 record) and will visit 8th-ranked Hamilton College on Friday. Tip off is set for 7:00pm. Viewers can stream the game at the link below.

Men's and Women's Track & Field Continue Stride for Nationals

Tyler Morris broke his own school record in the 5k.

With split squads on the weekend (BU Valentine Invitational in Boston, UMaine Invitational in Orono), Colby continues to target qualifying marks for the New England Division III Regional Championships in a few weeks. The men will be hosted by Middlebury February 25-26 while the women's events will be at Colby on the same days.

At the BU Invite, Tyler Morris broke his own school record in the 5k, and Sade Greenidge set a new Colby mark in the 200m. At UMaine, 11 Mules found their way onto the podium led by Peter Martel (Pole Vault), Olivia Tomlin (400m), and Lily Matson (Triple Jump) who all earned gold.
