ITA Most Improved Senior Award
Crystal Juan from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps has been named the 2022 ITA Most Improved Senior.
Juan has truly been a remarkable story of improvement. During her freshman year of 2018-2019, she was not even in the travel party for NCAA's. In her sophomore year of 2019-2020, she played second doubles only and was not in the singles lineup before COVID ended our season, and had no season in 2020-2021.
However, in 2022, Juan flipped the script and became an integral member of the CMS team who would go on to win the 2022 NCAA Team National Championship.
As the team captain and No. 1 singles player, Juan compiled a 17-10 record in 2022, including a clinching win in the SCIAC Championship.
Juan ends the season ranked as the No. 7 ranked singles player in the nation, and the No. 2 ranked singles player in the West Region.
