WHY ANIMALS SHOULD NOT BE KEPT IN CAPTIVITY By "Phillip"

Hungry, depressed, and unable to connect. That’s how animals living in captivity feel. Just as we humans are free to do whatever we want so long as we follow the law, then it shouldn’t be different for animals.

We are taking perfectly healthy animals out of the wild and tossing them into barred cages. Why cant animals do the same for us? We have to treat them fairly; but unfortunately, animals don’t have a say in the issue. We cannot kill innocent animals just because we need to research them. If we can, then why can’t animals research us?

Animal research

Over 3,000 animals die in captivity each year. A lot of animal species are on the brink of extinction because of captivity. Have you ever wondered why people created zoos? The answer is always money. We take healthy animals out of the wild so that other people can pay money to watch them suffer.

What would happen if we stopped going to zoos? Maybe they would go bankrupt and release the animals. Maybe they would take more animals out of the wild. Who knows? Some people say that being kept in captivity is a good thing because they provide them with food, water, and shelter; but in reality they can find their own food, water, and shelter. Animals are raised in the wild and are taught how to do those things from an early age.

When animals are taken out of the wild, you are depriving them of their social life completely; therefore you cannot put them back in the wild because they are relying on you for their basic needs.

Now more animals are dying in captivity than in the wild, and its all just by chance. You could be the lucky duck who gets raised in a nice family in a nice place, or you could get raised as an orphan in a run-down place with very little food. You could be tossed in a cage, or you could live the rest of your life in the wild.

Free vs captured

Whenever you go to a zoo, remember that you could have been one of those animals and those animals could have been one of you.

If we actually care, and we actually wanted to provide animals with basic needs; well we don’t have to do it by creating zoos. We can give them food, and we can give them water, but we can’t take away their family.

Some people say that if we keep animals in the wild, they would get killed, but that’s just how life works. Some animals eat other animals for food, but maybe those animals eat other animals too.

If we keep putting animals in zoos, they wont be able to reproduce and as a result, the animal population would go down.

Hopefully people will realize that this has to change and maybe they can change it.
