On Saturday April 22nd, the Mammoths competed at the Sean Collier Invitational, hosted by MIT for the last regular season meet of the outdoor season. On a colder and windy day, the Mammoths competed hard!

Javelin
One of the first events of the day for the Mammoths was the javelin, where Annelise Romero and Payton Sorensen both competed well in challenging conditions. Annelise placed eighth with a best throw of 29.78 meters (97' 8") and Payton placed eighteenth with a best throw of 19.21 meters (63' 0").
Discus & Hammer
Jack Renda represented the Mammoths well in the Discus, enjoying a season best throw of 32.86 meters (107' 10")! In the Hammer, Jack was also the only Mammoth to compete and placed ninth with a throw of 37.83 meters (124' 1")!

3,000 Steeplechase
Running in only his second steeplechase race, Paolo Canigiula ran a patient race, clicking off consistent splits in the middle of the race field while his competitors got out to a pace that proved to be too quick. With two and a half laps left in the race, Paolo got close to his competitors and passed two runners, placing third in a personal best time of 10:37!
1,500
The next event on the track for the Mammoths was the 1,500 and Ona Ortiz-Gudeman was first to compete, racing in the first heat. Ona competed hard and placed tenth overall in a time of 5:10. Julia Gentin competed in the next heat and steadily moved up the field throughout the race, placing twenty first overall in a time of 5:17.
In the Men's 1500, George Cahill ran a smart race as his heat got out to a fast pace and the first year moved up in the field to place ninth overall, running a personal best time of 4:00! Keon Mazdisnian ran a great race, moving up the field during the race and had a great kick in the last 100 meters of the race to place second in his heat in a personal best time of 4:00! Will Merhige ran a strong race, placing fifteenth overall in a time of 4:02! Aydin Willliams had a great day, pushing the pace during his heat and he competed all the way through the line, running a personal best time of 4:02! Oliver Spiva competed well, placing nineteenth overall in a time of 4:05. Ian Dopp ran hard, placing twenty fourth overall in a time of 4:09. Emmett McGrath competed well in hard in his heat and ran a time of 4:27.

100 & 110 Hurdles
After a significant delay to switch the direction of the hurdles to allow for more favorable winds, Olivia Steele toed the line and had a fantastic race, winning her heat in a huge personal best time of 16.05 seconds to place sixth overall! Anaya Thomas also enjoyed a great race, placing eighth overall in a strong time of 16.29 seconds!
Alton Machen had a great day, winning the 110 Hurdles in a season best time of 15.39 seconds! Zach Villegas had a great day too, placing seventh in a personal best time of 17.91 seconds!
400
Caroline Wu competed well in the 400, placing ninth overall in a time of 1:03.75!

Pole Vault
Payton Sorensen competed well in the pole vault, clearing 2.80 meters (9' 2.25") on her first attempt at the height.
Triple Jump
Anaya Thomas and Olivia Steele both jumped well in the triple jump and were affected by the delay to the 100 Hurdles as both events occurred at the same time. Anaya placed sixth with a jump of 10.66 meters (34' 11.75") and Olivia placed seventh with a jump of 10.27 meters (33' 8.5")!

The Men's 100 was a strong race for the Mammoths, as Theo Woodward placed second in his heat in a time of 11.45 seconds and Marshall Richardson placed fifth in the same heat, running a time of 12.10 seconds! Ben Williams won his heat twice in an interesting situation, where he won his heat and then it had to be re-run due to a timing system malfunction. He won his heat and again and was timed in a personal best time of 11.45 seconds!
In the Women's 100, Amerley Lokko placed tenth overall in a season best time of 13.12 seconds!

Susannah Auderset competed hard in her last race as a Mammoth, getting out well and competed hard in the second lap of the race, placing eighth in her heat in a time of 2:35! Braedon Fiume competed well in his heat of the 800, keying off the leaders in the first lap of the race and kicked well in the final 100 meters to place second in his heat in a time of 1:57!
400 Hurdles
Max Spelke ran a strong race in the 400 Hurdles, placing fifth in a time of 1:00.10! In the Women's 400 Hurdles, Artis Phillips placed fourth in a time of 1:09.28 and Val Finke placed fifth in a time of 1:10.66!

The Mammoths competed well and competed hard at the meet. We are so grateful for all of the support from alumni, family and friends!
NEXT UP for the Mammoths is the NESCAC Championships on Saturday, April 29th! The meet will be hosted by Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut and the action will begin at 9 AM.
