The Truth about Alcohol Austin reyle
Appropriate alcohol consumption involves drinking in moderation and keeping your judgement impaired. Maintaining moderation when drinking will develop into healthy habits as a responsible and mature adult. In it of itself alcohol is not dangerous and sometimes healthy. Drinking a glass of red wine for instance is good for your heart. By displaying discipline college students will become responsible adults.
By adding a class for safe and healthy habits for adult life, Liberty University could teach students responsibility for adulthood. Learning how to be an adult from a biblical perspective will allow students to learn approach gray areas of Christianity through the discretion of the Holy Spirit. These gray areas fit into Christian liberties which students will incorporate into their lives according to their conscience. In a world where college is viewed as a time to 'discover' yourself, Liberty needs to guide its students to approach discovering themselves as Christians.
College is an important time for students to make wise decisions based on their own volition as opposed to general restrictions. Students who are learning what it means to live on their need to be in control and be responsible for their actions. Laws that are set up at the federal and state level should always be obeyed. Legal drinking of alcohol off-campus should be up to the individual.
Disorderly college students enjoy the thrill of breaking rules and doing what is shunned upon in society. Many students at Liberty will be tempted to engage in an activity simply because its not allowed. Adam and Eve were tempted in a similar way by the Devil. If alcohol stopped being viewed as the 'forbidden fruit' it would not be nearly as appealing.
Many activities only become sinful when done in excess and with little to not control. Just as eating too much will cause someone to gain weight binge drinking alcohol has dangerous effects. Because of this it is important for college students to first learn how to drink responsibly before going to college so they will not be inclined to drink excessively. Learning this in the home environment is a safe place to develop discipline in consuming alcohol if the student is considering doing so legally in college.
