In late 2019, the Philanthropy team at AU approached us about creating a video to promote the inaugural day of giving that would be known as, Augusta Gives. We knew that the focus of this day revolved around our founding year, 1828; the event would be 1,828 minutes of giving. As fans of Back to the Future movies we thought it would be fun to create a spoof and go back in time to see how giving helped to grow our institution to what it is today.
Over a weekend I wrote the first draft of the script for what would become a fundraising short-film known as Augusta Gives: Back to the Future. The short-film features two students, Caly and Syd, who are teaming up to travel back to 1835 and 1959 to discover more about Augusta University's history of giving. The film was shot in March of 2020, because of the pandemic release was delayed to October 2020.
I served as co-producer, director of photography and visual effects artist for the film. This project was a large collaborative effort among many Augusta University departments. In 2022, Augusta Gives: Back to the Future was awarded a Silver TELLY award in the fundraising category.
The short-film is featured below.
My Augusta University Stories
At Augusta University there are many students and alumni who are doing great things and it is my pleasure to tell some of these stories in the My Augusta University Story series. Below are three stories that highlight students who exemplify our core values. Shot with the EVA1 cinema camera and Panasonic GH5, edited in Final Cut Pro.
AU Brand Launch: Like No Other
In 2021, Augusta University developed a new brand campaign that would encompass all of the great ways Augusta University is making a difference in students' lives and our community. The Like No Other brand was launched in August 2021 with the video below shown at the launch party at the Augusta Greenjackets stadium. I worked with my co-worker to develop this concept highlighting the keywords that describe how Augusta University is Like No Other. Shot with the EVA1 cinema camera, edited in Final Cut Pro and After Effects.
