Weekly Newsletter 4th March 2022

Welcome to West Meadows Weekly!

Wow! We have had an incredibly busy first week back at school with pancake day, World Book Day and our ‘Walking Bus’ to promote road safety and walking to school. The children all looked amazing in their costumes for World Book Day and it was lovely to see our older children in school reading with our younger children. It was also wonderful to be able to invite parents back into the classroom in our Foundation Stage classes to share books with our youngest children in school. The children were excited to be able to show their parents around the classroom!

staffing

This week we welcomed back Mrs Maree into school and I know that everyone was delighted to have her back again. We would also like to welcome Mrs Cunliffe to school as a volunteer supporting children with their reading. We also welcome Miss Marshall who is working alongside Mrs Fitzsimmons in Year 1.

Parents Evening

We are excited to be able to welcome parents back into school for Parents’ Evening at the end of this half term on 5th April. For those parents who would prefer it, we are also offering a telephone appointment rather than a face-to-face meeting. A letter will be going out next week with a slip to return to school with your preferred appointment time.

Sports in School

We have a number of sporting opportunities in school this half term, including Chance to Shine cricket coaches who will be working with Years 1, 3, 4 and 6. Swimming lessons have also started in Year 5 and after school clubs for dodge ball. We are also looking forward to restarting our locality sporting competitions.

Comic Relief Day

We will be supporting Red Nose Day on Friday 18th March. This year’s theme is ‘Everyday Superheroes’. Children (and grown ups!) can come dressed as a superhero for the day or simply come dressed in non school uniform. We are asking for a voluntary donation of up to £1.00 for the charity.

Start and end of day pick-ups

We have now removed the one way system around school. However, we have decided to keep both the gate at the top of the ramp and the gate by Year 6 open for now. Parents can enter and exit the school through either entrance, however we would please ask that in order to keep all of the children safe that when they are with you, they do not go through the carpark.

Attendance matters

Every Monday we will celebrate our children’s achievements, both in school and at home, including their attendance in school. Good attendance is vital for your child’s education and means they can make the most of all aspects of school life.
