Propaganda The Words that Change are character
Propaganda means information that is designed and intended for the audience to think and behave in a certain manner.
During the era of World War II and on wards to the Cold war and present day the United States has used propaganda to communicate their ideas to the people even though they arent that effective. The United states governments main goal was to bring a country together in a time of need.
Russia has been a country to intertwine conflicts with the United states for as long as the cold war and on wards. The man in this picture is Joseph Stalin a famous Russian leader that came into power around the end of World War 1 and through the Cold War. This Chinese form of propaganda is an example of how a simple leader is thrown out onto a piece of paper and shown to the people as a riotous leader. There is no god in a man such as Stalin and therefore this is what Propaganda seeks to accomplish. It looks for people who are willing to support a cause that is all but tyrannical. This widely occurs in the United states with Obama as presented at the top were the poster says "Obama is our American Dream". Were are the facts to prove this when the words have no evidence. There is no need to give him this title when not everyone agrees upon this claim. Propaganda in a whole usually gives a rise to war such as this one called "Dig for Victory".
This World War II propaganda poster gave way towards the first propaganda ever made. The set important features of this early Propaganda was to created to mobilize attitudes and opinions. Propaganda during the late 1930's was a weapon not like like any ordinary weapon but a weapon to pierce the hearts and minds and gather a great mass of people to believe upon what they say. Propaganda at this point and time was used to make people feel bad and support the war effort. The Thing about Propaganda is that it has multiple effects based upon its purpose and were it lands in terms of people thoughts. The main purpose for propaganda during the World War II era was to bring the entire American population to support the war effort. The people who designed this certain propaganda poster wanted to catch the attention of the greater mass of the American population to bring more people into the factory side of the war.
Propaganda is more of a government manipulated feature during the war such as this propaganda poster created during World War II. The Government wants the people to take their advise and give all they can. Propaganda has an effect that it gives during a war such as this one. This form of propaganda makes the people feel bad that they are wasting food that could be used to feed troops and could keep the United States healthy for however long the war lasts. Most posters released in the World War II era were a guilt trip to bring people together to advance America in the war so it would not fall behind and collapse into shambles.
TThis World War II propaganda poster brings upon even more guilt to the people that arent helping with the war effort. This poster caters to the men of America who have been waiting on the side lines and haven't had much confidence to join the war but have a cause now. Due to the events of Pearl Harbor America and its men in particular have a cause to dislike the Japanese and their actions of that day. The other reason for a Propaganda poster of this sort is to increase the production and increase the amount of people helping with the war effort. Knowing that the enemy is ever so increasing its efforts to desomate the United States and all that it stands for brings about a brighter and more defined cause for this poster and that's what the creator of this poster wants to achieve.
Propaganda is used in this poster to scare an individual straight and or to prevent something from happening. During the war the information that one man had could be a matter of life and death for the entire army. If one word was spoken to the enemy then the chances for a victory by the United States was slim to none. This propaganda poster itself brought a group to light and that was the Duquesne spy ring created by Germany to send citizens in and gain evidence from any person they could to further bring victory to the German war effort. Posters like this in fact had a purpose as espionage was in fact going on and the United States took it by the root and plucked it from its existence. This poster had a purpose as it brought the guard of the FBI's attention and brought 33 German/ American spies to justice. The Warning poster was of many propaganda posters that the United States believed in and they were like a light bulb going off in everyone's heads because they knew these kinds of things were happening and they needed to be dragged out to the light. Propaganda is given a false name to many and some do not follow it. Many of its key goals are true and have come into play with American history time and time again.
This Propaganda poster advocates a lot for what its meant for an thats taking a certain person such as Lyndon B Johnson the 36 president of the United states and bashing them with words such as these. The aim of the poster that is present to any person seeing this is to put a bad view point upon them and to gather a group of people that feel the same way and bring about the people that feel Johnson was a great president to believe what this posters purpose is for. Background information on Johnson is that his tactics in Vietnam were not at all accepted by the United States and were seen as a weight set upon Johnson's upcoming election at the time. Posters such as these set a negative feel for Johnson and in a way scare the entire United States population into adopting their view points and attacking Johnson with Propaganda such as this. Just by creating this a revolution had been started to go against Johnson ways due to his mishap in Vietnam. Johnson's famous line to the United States people "If we quit Vietnam we'll be fighting in Hawaii and next week we'll have to be fighting in San Francisco". A line by Johnson that made this propaganda poster even more believable to the United States population and the believers of propaganda that were scared by it as a whole.
A Canadian WWII propaganda poster as simple as this one which reads Allons- Y translates to "Lets go" brings upon a sense of government pressure upon the French Canadian people. Such as American propaganda at this time the canadian government was pressuring the people to join the war effort and to not leave one stone un turned in terms of help and service. The Canadian government did exactly what America did and that is with a big presentation of letters and colors that were appealing to the people with both interest and fascination. The Big aim of Canada's propaganda was to write as little as possible but still give off an image that was inspirational to bring the country's mass together. What Canada had done that was different was applying its posters on buses, billboards, matchbox covers, theaters, and workplaces to get the word out that we need your help. The propaganda in this sort was used in an effective manner and meant a lot to the war effort and brought the better part of Canada together. This propaganda was not false as other were proscribed to groups this was more of a government action to bring more attention to the problem at hand rather than let it settle.
This Modern day Propaganda poster paid by the Emergency Committee of Israel is a way for the people of Iran to catch the attention of the American people and the people of Iran. In every way shape or form This group wants you to question Obama's actions in a negative manner even though nuclear weapons are still a big picture in everyone's minds and cause way more damage than Obama's decisions. The Committee of Israel are attacking Obama so that they seem innocent even though Iran shouldn't be creating any nuclear materials whatsoever even if it was for energy purposes. The fact is we would never know what this rush for nuclear energy is for and that is why Obama questions these actions. Iran's president in 1974 the Shah said that "This nuclear arms race is ridiculous". This poster would have been effective back in the 70's if the president of the united states were to of said what Obama is saying but there is no need to oppose the truth. Since then many Iranian leaders have said that they are creating peaceful nuclear energy and if a bomb were to be made they would not be afraid to hide it from the world. What this propaganda poster is used for is to make Iran look like the country getting bullied and Obama is the bully in the situation. The fact present here is that this committee is showing a valid problem and is asking the people of the United States if they agree or disagree with Obama's thoughts. The emergency Committee of Israel keeps using the word "DO" so that they can propose a question that they want answered and or to create many groups that agree upon each question.
The main purpose the United States Government wants to get out of this poster is what the people want to know from the men who have fought in the war. These questions span from what it was like to what was the everyday experience of having to kill for your country to let freedom ring. The United States government wants you to question whats going on over seas and what is being done to win the war. The United States government had put this out with the intention for the people to lend a hand in the war effort. There are many interpretations of this poster and one is the help for the war effort and another is the pure curiosity of what was going on the front. The War effort aspect seemed to be the more dominant message as you have this soldier who looks like he had been through it all asking a question as if he is looking to touch peoples helping side. This poster being published in 1943 was at a strategic period in the war in which the United States needed most of its help from its people.
This propaganda poster purpose was to expose the enormous loss that the United states had when it came to Marine merchant ships and sailors. The message that the creator Captain Arthur Moore wants the United States people to realize is that these men suffered catastrophic losses and were never given credit for what they had done to support the war. When the phrase "a careless word" is presented Captain Moore's wants you to feel bad that these men risked their lives for America and weren't even given a slight bit of credit for doing what they did on the ruff sea's during the war helping and aiding supplies to the troops in need. Moore wanted this propaganda poster to gain recognition for the marines that maned these ships for over 42 years and wanted the American people to shed light on the men that were doing work that was important but not entirely available during the war.
In this World War II propaganda poster we see Uncle Sam holding a mosquito and a German soldier saying that there are two threats that the United States faces at the the time of the war. Here we have a common slogan for Uncle Sam propaganda were he says "Its your job to help" and goes on to tell you what your going to be helping with. The main message that the United States government wants to get from this poster is that at a time period like this the people of America need to be on their A- game and have to put forth effort to win. On the flip side of the matter Malaria which was a terrible disease that many soldiers would attract in foreign lands was of a high risk in the pacific theater of war and was a threat that the United States took as an enemy such as the Japanese and the Germans. A poster such as this one is like many of the time as they are purposeful in attracting the attention of the American people to help in the war effort an feel as they are putting forth their best effort. The US government used Uncle Sam as a way to catch the attention of many and to really put the message out there that there is a serious war going on and its both with the enemy and a viral infection. The government's main goal for throwing Uncle Sam on another propaganda poster was to recruit men into the war as the amount of soldiers that would be killed in the line of duty was falling down every single day. Such as the propaganda poster used during World War I that said "I want you for the U.S. army" is on the same guide lines as this were we have the government hiding behind Uncle Sam and asking a lot from the United States people.
The most iconic propaganda poster in history is the 1917 Uncle Sam "I want you" poster which asked for recruitment of United States men. A message so influential that it carried over to World War II as well to recruit men into the army. At the time the Germany had more soldiers than any one country and the United States only had about 200,000 men. The government really hoped that this form of propaganda would bring in the masses and spark a thought in the average American man to join and help this country unite to become one and stop thee world powers from causing global destruction. Due to the events of Pearl harbor and the constant threat of war this form of propaganda brought several thousands and even hundreds of thousands at most. Posters such as this made a man feel like hes doing something for his country in an act of patriotism. This poster even brought out kids who weren't even old enough to join but were so patriotic now due to this poster that they lied about their age to join.
